Thursday Theme Song

Madi and I thank Hootin' Anni for sponsoring Thursday Theme song...
Today's song is 'You are My Sunshine'..  It was written by Louisiana's former Governor Jimmie Davis
and Charles Mitchell copyright 1940.  It is one of the two official songs for the State of Louisiana
It is dedicated to our friends in Louisiana at Jacqueline's Cat House
There is a short video of the song at the end so that you will know the tune to the song.
Your are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You Make me happy, when skies are gray
You'll never know, dear how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away
The other nite, dear
As I lay sleeping, I dreamed I held you in my arms
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken, and I hung my head and cried.

You are my sunshine
I'll always love you and make you happy
If you will only say the same , But if you leave me, to love another,
You'll regret it all some day
You told me once, dear you really loved me
And no one else could come between, but now you've left me, and love another
You have shattered all my dreams

Louisiana my Louisiana
the place where I was borne, white fields of cotton, green fields of clover, the
best fishing and long tall corn,
You are my sunshine my only sunshine,
crawfish gumbo and jambalaya, the biggest shrip and sugar cane, the finest oysters and sweet strawberries
from Toledo to New Orleans,
You are my sunshine my only sunshine

  1. What a happy song choice, I love this song. I started humming along as I read the lyrics. That is such a cool photo of the moon and I love the collage of Madi. It looks like your sunshine was trying to find a sunny spot for a nap.

You asked about the colors in the water on my photos. All of the color is made by reflections of trees and sky on the water and the ducks were creating movement which swirled the color. It's all natural with no special effects by the computer.

    Happy Thursday,
    J and Cindi Lou

  13. I remember this song from as far back as I can remember. I don't know if my mother sang it to me, or perhaps one of my grandmothers, I just know I grew up knowing the words without thinking about it.

  14. Hi -- got your comment on "Singing in the Rain" - thanks - did you notice there's a YouTube link? It shows Gene Kelly, if you didn't see it.
