My Saturday was ruined.....

Saturday morning my favorite day of the week. Why...well Mom leaves the bed *unmade and I get to take the most wonderful nap amongst the covers and sheets. Yes, I, the Diva Island Princess Cat, love to wallow in my humans sweet scents (*this rarely happens at our house) Well what I expected to find was not what I found. Mom had already taken off the old sheets, no lovely scents just the smell of NOTHING. You see mom is allergic to detergents and dryer sheets with fragrances. Everything she uses is what she calls FREE. Here I sit trying to digest this state of affairs.....

I looked back one more time to be sure my eyes and my Mom had not deceived me....but alas they had...

So there is nothing else to do except jump ship.....ahoy below one cat walking the plank.
Once I get over this sad state of affairs there will be demerits.

Summer time and the living is HOT

Mom refers to summer weather in NC, as either the 3H's or the 5H's
(hot, hazy, humid or hot, hazy, humid, horrible and horrific). Thus far this week each day's high has been 95 or above...we expect possibly 100 today.
During the dog days of summer, a kitty (namely Madi) with lots of lush hair needs a cool place to sit. A Diva cat, likes cool granite on which to recline. Of course, she has to have under the counter lighting for drama and it never hurts to have laser eyes peeled for any wayward food that might be dropped during meal prep.

I'm finding, this section of counter, not quite as spacious; however, it is only a foot away from
where mom is cooking.

I'm carefully watching every move she makes. If she drops even a morsel, I'm her go get it girl.

My purr on video: Mom said as soon as she gets a new camera that doesn't make that aggravating click during a video she will most definitely post a video of my PURfect PURR.

Wordless Wednesday and Public Service Day

Today, June 23, is Public Service Day.
My public service is blogging and I thank everyone who comes to visit.

Note from Mom: I wish you could have heard Madi purring during these pictures.
She has the most wonderful purr accentuated with several different little puffs of air here and there.

Life is Good.....

Mom and I are very pleased to accept this lovely award from The Creek Cats and their Mom and Dixie the Lab. The mom of this bunch is a very devoted member of a crew of Cat rescuers on our beautiful NC coast. She and other volunteers work tirelessly to trap feral cats for spaying/neutering and vaccinations.
This group of volunteers continues to feed the feral colonies too. We commend them for their work for our furry friends.

This award is for Moms and Dads who blog help their beloved felines and K9's blog. Mom is supposed to answer the following questions then pass the award on to others. Mom and I would like to offer it to all Moms/Dads of felines and K9's. Mom isn't sure where the questions originated but we are thinking possibly across the pond...she isn't familiar with some of the terms/words/phrases. But as she said she'll try anything once.

1.What would be a perfect day for you.

Sitting on the porch with a nice cool breeze, good book and a glass of sweet iced tea

2.How would you describe yourself if you were an item of clothing

Comfortable shoes

3.What hobby are you working on currently

Crocheting afghan squares

4.Walking in the woods in wellies or barefoot on the beach

Wellies are boots right? So I guess walking in the NC mountains (woods) in my favorite hiking shoes

5.Have you ever hugged a tree or sung to a tree

Not intentionally!!! But I have, on occasion, thanked them for their shade

6.Growing your own veggies or nipping to the supermarket.

No space to grow veggies. I buy fresh local veggies at the Farmer's Market in Raleigh.

7.Have you found anyone exciting in your family tree

I'm afraid to look. I might find someone who was a little too exciting

8.Slap up a meal in a plosh restaurant or fish 'n chips from a wrapper

Is 'slap up'..a phrase for eating? If so, I've done it but normally I most enjoy local small cafes

9.Which element do you most resonate with, earth, wind, fire or water

Earth, I have a love for all creatures great and small and the out of doors.

10. Do you believe in fairies.

I love Tinkerbell...so yes I do believe in fairies. They are happy little creatures. I'm a firm believer in any thing that is happy or makes me or someone else smile.

M is my favorite letter

This post is brought to you by the letter M , many of my favorite words begin with M, such as Mom, Meow, More (as in food), Madi (as in Me). Monday and MAIL. As in, the most adorable Thank you card from, you guessed it more M's, Maggie Mae, thanking us for her Paw it Forward Gift. What a cute verse (click on the picture to read) on the card all about how a most thankful puppy says Thank you. Nothing better than a moist muzzle (aka nose but that starts with n)!!!
Maggie Mae you are Most welcomed and might I point out (below) Mom failed to capture my Most Mellow Meow in the picture. You can see she snapped just as my mouth closed but there is a hint of tongue still showing.

She waited patiently, until finally she snapped...Me, Madi, catching just the slightest sweet scent of my friend Maggie Mae on my most marvelous mail....

Mom and Madi thank the letter M making a guest appearance in today's post.

Happy Father's Day and Steeple Sunday

The first dance with Daddy at my 14th birthday party. Yep all you young men came with shirts and ties on and were supposed to be having fun (not)!!!??? It looks like Daddy is probably telling me not to even think about a slow dance with any of those young whipper snappers!!
Happy Father's Day to my Daddy who will be 81 in September.

Today's featured church was founded in 1927. I expect you have guessed the church is located in

West Raleigh about 2 blocks from NCSU campus. The hope was the Church would attract two groups, college students and the the growing residential neighborhood. The new congregation met on NCSU campus until 1932 when it had raised $2000.00. The Little Brow Church was built as a temporary structure.

Raleigh's first unit of Alcoholics Anonymous began meeting in the Little Brown Church. In 1934 Boy Scout Troop 303 began holding their meeting here until the 1980's. I was very pleased with the above picture of the West Raleigh Presbyterian Steeple. Perfect angle on a perfectly beautiful day which meant only one picture of the Steeple was needed.

I love the cream brick used to construct the cross into the side of the church. This is the church's Christian Education Building and Campus Christian Life Center, constructed in 1959.

This lovely welcoming archway leads to church entrance. I like the design of the archway in several layers leading to the door on the right. All in all, this is a very charming and quaint church. It is not extremely large like some I've featured; however, it continues to serve the surrounding community quite effectively.
