Disgust, Demerits, Delights and Demons

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
MS. K @ DOG DAZE ASKED US TO TELL
EVERYONE HER PC HAS A NASTY, NASTY VIRUS.
DOG DAD IS GOING TO TRY TO FIX IT. UNTIL THEN SHE IS OUT OF SERVICE. SHE HAS A 13" NOTEBOOK FOR EMERGENCIES.

NOW FOR THE SCHEDULED COMPLAINT SESSION.

When I'm disgusted I sleep, and trust me when I say I'm disgusted!!
Keep reading to find out why Mom's demerits I'm are mounting up...

Nope it isn't because of these delightful flowers and plants

I like looking at them on my deck

The root of my disgust lies in the demons below.
Mom has become infatuated with a pair of chipmunks
who are living in our yard.  (The squirrels just had to get in the picture.  I tried to tell them it was NOT about them.... but you know how squirrels can be...)

It is as dry as the Mojave Desert in Raleigh. Mom keeps the regular bird bath full of water for everyone.  She began to
worry about the Chip and Dale being thirsty and having no way to
get water in the tall bird bath.  She made Chip and Dale a mini watering hole out of the bottom of another birdbath.
She used two bricks to make them steps up to the water.
I wish you could have heard her glee the first time
Chip and Dale discovered their own personal watering hole.
Shhhhhh....I must admit they do look pretty darn cute standing on their hind legs taking a sip. Thus far we haven't seen them use the brick staircase but they come to our yard every day.  The watering hole is under a tree and even the smaller birds are using it.  We also have a pair of jack rabbits who are welcomed to use this watering hole.  FYI:  I've decided to forego demerits just this time.

  14. What a creative use for the bottom of that bird bath. I have one like it, and I gave up on it in disgust after trying to get it filled. I'll have to try this for the chipmunks and squirrels around here.

  15. Tell your mom she better remember when she leaves out water for those dang chipmunks that ... they built nests in Gizzy's Mom's gas grill ... TWICE. And ... they've started to eat holes in the gas grill's cover. Cute as they are, Gizzy's Mom wants her chipmunks to move to someone elses yard ... and be quick about it too.

  16. You better hope Puddles isn't reading this ...she might just fly right up in her magic laundry basket and have her way with Chip and Dale!

    Your pal, Pip

    P.S.: They are pretty cute!

  17. Madi, your mom is so wonderful to feed and put out water for those squirrels and the chipmunk!! I love them!! My granddad used to feed all of them and train them and we would have about a hundred in the yard!!! He always called them "bunnies"!! I grew up loving them. It's raining here hard and very bad storms today so I'm trying to catch a break between the lightning to read some blogs. These thunderstorms are bad...if you need water...I have about a foot in the garbage pail right now and I cannot turn the thing over!!! Lots of love, Debbie & Holly

Your Mom is so sweet to be concerned about Chip and Dale, and just think they will give you lots of delights in watching them.
