Meet My Cabinet: Brian

Girly Girls sit down we are about to introduce you to
BRIAN
Resident Ladies' Man

1. Please introduce yourself(selves), tell us your age and a very special trait.

THE ONE AND ONLY
BRIAN...LOOK AT THAT CONFIDENCE!!!

My name is Brian and I am the one and only mancat at our humble abode, although it wasn’t that way when I first came to live here. I am 5 years old and my Dad and Mom say my most special trait is that I love everyone and am the most welcoming kitty they have ever met.  As each new sister arrived on the scene I welcomed them with open paws, no muss, no fuss, no whap, no hiss. I do want to clarify the Ladies’ Man Title though, it is because I live with six beautiful ladycats.  I do have a special Ladycat in my life and that is my loving Scylla from Alasandra, the Cats & Dogs.

2. If you had and alter ego, who would you like to be and why?

I always thought I’d be Santa Claus because I love to give to others and I love to make others smile.  Besides, I was born on a Christmas Tree Farm so it’s a natural!
 SISTER KIT

3. What do you like best/least about where you live?
I actually love where we live in the Upstate of South Carolina.  Our home is across the street from a lake and we’ve got some darn good critter viewing here.  I’ve seen geese, ducks, snakes, rabbits, squirrels, birds, turtles, hawks and even an eagle a few years ago, and of course we have the feral kitties that live out back.  You just never know what you are going to see in our yard.  The only think that I don’t like about where we live is fireworks.  Fireworks are legal here and when they start going they go for days at a time.  We often get a lot of under the bed time during boomer holidays.

4. Who are some peeps/furiends you'd like to meet and why?

Oh my, we would love to meet Marg from Margs Animals, she lives so close to us but we’ve just never made it an hour south.  We’ve really been fortunate to have met a bunch of our blogging peeps and there are many, many more we would just love to meet.
SISTER SASCHA

5. If you could give one piece of random advice what would it be?

Be kind to others, it just takes so little effort and you just might make their day.

SISTER PRECIOUS

6. What do you do for fun?

I may have to deny this later, but I do like to chase my sisters!  It really is just play and it helps keep them physically fit.  Oh, and they are all not the least bit shy about giving me a good chase through the house either.

SISTER ZOE

7. What is the first thing you do each morning?

It doesn’t matter who gets up first, my Dad or my Mom, but the first thing I do is haul butt to the brushing perch in the big bathroom.  I love brushing, love, love, love it, and that is the best way for me to start my day.

8. What is the first thing you notice about a new friend?

I always notice their body language.  You can sure tell a lot about new friends just by looking at their eyes, their whiskers, their tail.  Happy comes through and I love to see lots of happy smiles.

SISTER GRACIE

9. Tell us how you came to live in your family and how you got your name.

Oh my, that sure is a long story, but I’ll give you the short version.  I was “rescued” as a tiny kitten from a Christmas Tree Farm here in the Upstate of North Carolina.  One of the nice rescue ladies from Kitten Action Team named me Brian because I reminded her of someone she knew.  I was at one of our local PetSmart stores for nine whole months, and it seemed that nobody was interested in me at all.  Then, all of a sudden I was adopted, I had a home.  But, as it turned out, that was not a good thing.  They were mean to be and kicked me some and I was not very happy at all.  Fortunately for me, the nice ladies from Kitten Action Team do follow-up visits and they recognized right away that I was scared and not happy.  They took me back right away…and back to PetSmart I went…waiting again.

This nice lady kept stopping by to talk to me but believe it or not the human hubby was not interested in meeting me.  The nice lady came every week to see me though and she told me she was working on the stubborn guy.  The longest time went by and I hadn’t seen that nice lady at all so I’d given up hope on that one too.  Then, one Saturday morning I looked up and there she was, with the guy dude.  Then we had an official meet n’ greet, then they left.  Oh well.  But what a surprise later that week.  The guy dude was here and he was taking me home.  My forever Dad and Mom finally came for me!

As it turns out, I was being adopted as a pal for a big Maine Coon Cat named Ivan who had just lost his brother Moses.  Ivan loved his brother Moses and was very lonely.  Well, Ivan and I hit it off immediately and I was home, 3 days before Christmas, what a present!  My brother Ivan and I were the best of friends.  Then one night, about 9 months later, in the middle of the night, he let out the worst scream you’ve ever heard.  He was gone.  He left me and went Over the Rainbow Bridge.  I was devastated and cried for a week.  Now I was the one who was lonely.  Then Sascha came, then Gracie and Zoe, then Dolly, then Precious, and then when our Grandma died Kit came to live with us.  I miss my brother Ivan every single day, he taught me so much, but I’m not lonely any more, not with 6 sisters!

10. What is your absolute favorite food?

My favorite is Fancy Feast Classic Turkey & Giblets!  I don’t eat people food at all, and actually none of us do.

SISTER DOLLY

BONUS TWO PARTS:
1.   PLEASE TELL US YOUR SECRET TO HARMONY IN THE HOUSE.  WE KITTIES KNOW WE CAN BE A LITTLE FRACTIOUS AT TIMES ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ARE LOTS OF LADIES.

The one big secret to all the harmony here is my Dad, he is the Boss Cat and we all know it.  I’ve already told you that I get along with everyone, and seriously I do.  However, I can’t say that each of my sisters were as nice when they first arrived.  Dad is very patient and lays out the rules of the house, the main one being that everyone is nice to everyone else.  Dad gets down on all fours and shows them what is and is not acceptable.  He will give them a hiss and a whap (easy, of course)if necessary.  They all caught on real quick like, except for sister Precious, and she still has Dad the Boss Cat stumped after 2 years.  We do know her history and she had likely never seen another cat before coming here.  Dad is still working with her though.

2.MOM AND I LOVE YOUR PICTURE WITH THE HAT.  PLEASE TELL US ABOUT IT AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE. (PLEASE send a pic of you in your hat too go with this question.

Thanks so much, I am quite fond of my fedora too and it has become my trademark, so to speak.

My fedora is significant for a couple of reasons.  One of the first bloggers we met when we started was a lovely lady by the name of Judi.  Everyone called her Aunt Judi.  Aunt Judi had 2 wonderful boy cats named Sammy and Andy.  Aunt Judi quickly became known for her hatting skills.  She would dress the Ladycats out in the prettiest hats, and she did the same for some of my sisters too.  Then Aunt Judi started hatting Mancats.  I’m not sure if I was the first Mancat she hatted, but I know I was a least one of the very early ones.   Aunt Judi selected a fedora for me because she said it fit my personality purrfectly.  Well, when we saw what she came up with we loved it immediately and that day Aunt Judi created my blogging identity…the cat in the fedora!  Aunt Judi died after a long battle with cancer leaving behind her dear Sammy and Andy, plus some girl kitties that were added to the family along the way.  Sammy and Andy have since gone Over the Rainbow Bridge to join them Mom, Aunt Judi.  We miss them all.

So, my fedora is significant for a couple of reasons.  It has become my identity and I will cherish that gift forever.  It also is a way for me to keep the memory of such a wonderful lady, Aunt Judi, alive in the hearts of many.
