THE CONVICT: A NEIGHBORHOOD STORY

KITTIES, PUPPIES AND TWO LEGGERS WHEN MOM
TOLD ME THIS STORY I FELL OVER ON MY BACK AND MOL

THIS STORY IS B.M. (no not that bm) B(efore) M(adi).

TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS AGO WHEN THE PEEPS MOVED
INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD MY HUMAN SIS WAS TWELVE.  NEARLY EVERY HOUSE
HAD ONE OR MORE MUNCHKINS UNDER FIFTEEN YEARS OLD AND ALL THE ADULTS WERE IN THEIR LATE 30'S EXCEPT FOR THE FOLKS WHO LIVED IN THE HOUSE PICTURED BELOW.  DURING THE SUMMER, SIS MET THE MUNCHKINS IN THE 'HOOD, THEY ALL HAD A STORY TO TELL HER ABOUT THIS HOUSE.  THE MAN IN THE HOUSE WAS RARELY SEEN OUTSIDE; HOWEVER, WHEN HE WAS SEEN
HE WAS REPORTED TO BE BEARDED, WITH MESSY HAIR AND CLOTHES,
HE SHUFFLED ABOUT AND THEY WERE SURE HE HAD CHAINS AROUND HIS ANKLES, WHICH IS HOW THE CONVICT STORY BEGAN.

SHORTLY BEFORE SCHOOL STARTED IN THE FALL, SIS AND MOM WERE WALKING BY THIS HOUSE TO FIND HER DESIGNATED BUS STOP. SIS TOLD MOM ALL THE MUNCHKINS TOLD HER A CONVICT LIVED IN THIS HOUSE.  THEY CONVINCED HER THE ONLY SAFE WAY TO PASS THIS HOUSE SAFELY WAS TO RUN LIKE THE WIND.
MOM SAID MY SIS WAS WORRIED ABOUT RUNNING WITH ALL HER BOOKS.
THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF SCHOOL SIS HAD TO PASS THIS HOUSE EVERY AFTERNOON ALL ALONE.  SOME HOW SHE SURVIVED AND NEVER SAW THE CONVICT.  FORTUNATELY, FOR HER SOME OTHER MUNCHKINS WHO LIVED NEAR US STARTED TAKING THE AFTERNOON BUS.  THEY WALKED BY THIS SCARY HOUSE
IN A TIGHT UNIT!!

A FEW MONTHS LATER, WE LEARNED THE TRUE IDENTITY OF

THE FOLKS IN THIS HOUSE. THEY WERE RETIRED AND IN THEIR LATE 60'S.  THE MAN WAS BEARDED, HE SHUFFLED, DUE TO AGE.  HE DID NOT HAVE CHAINS AROUND HIS ANKLES.  HIS CLOTHES WEREN'T MESSY; HOWEVER,  THEY WERE NOT THE KIND OF CLOTHES THE KIDS WERE USED TO SEEING. WE LATER LEAREND THEY MOVED TO RALEIGH FROM ATLANTA TO BE NEAR THEIR CHILDREN.  MOM WOULD SAY HELLO TO THE MAN BUT NEVER SAW HIS WIFE OUTSIDE.

ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO THE ELDERLY COUPLE MOVED INTO AN ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY.  IT IS NOW OCCUPIED BY A YOUNG COUPLE WHO COMLETELY REMODELED IT.  I WONDER IF THEY KNOW THE HOUSE WAS ONCED OWNED BY A 'CONVICT'?

TO THIS DAY, THE ONLY CONVICTS WE KNOW IN THE 'HOOD ARE THESE TWO TREES
WHO HAVE BEEN CHAINED TO ONE ANOTHER FOR SOMETIME......
DO YOU HAVE ANY FUNNY STORIES ABOUT YOU NEIGHBORHOOD?

THURSDAY THEME SONG by HERMAN'S HERMITS

Once again Mom and I thank Hootin' Anni for sponsoring

and we thank our good friends
suggesting today's featured song, SILHOUETTES, from another British boy band.
This song first recorded by The Ray's and The Diamonds in 1957; however, Herman's Hermits version in 1965 was tops in Mom's book.  Mom has changed a few words...

Took a walk and passed your house late last night,
All the shades were pulled and drawn way down tight.
From within, the dim light cast on two (one) silhouettes on the shade (door).
Oh what a lovely couple (scary Mom it) they made.

Put his (her) arms around your waist (neck), held you tight,
Kisses (purrs) I could almost taste in the night
Wondered why I'm not the guy (kitty) whose silhouette is on the shade (door), I couldn't hide the tears in my eyes

AH-ah-ah-ah-ah-
Lost control, rang your bell, I was sore,
"Let me in or I'll beat your down your door"
When two (one) stangers who had been two (one) silhouettes on the shade (sidewalk), said to my shock, "you are on the wrong block".
Rushed down to your house with wings on my feet (paws)
Loved you like I'd never loved you my sweet
Vowed that you and I would be two silhouettes on the shade (grass)
All of our days, two silhouettes on the shade (grass).

We hope you enjoy this song by Herman's Hermits...
Mom says H.H. are very cute, too!!MOL

WEDNESDAY WHIFFS

I bet you are all asking yourselves or your assistants what in the world is that crazy Madi looking at?
Well I'm here to tell you, last weekend our weather was as near to purrfection as it gets here in NC.
I heard commotion coming from my sis and bil's room so being the curious cat that I am, I ran in to see if I could help.  Lo and behold Mom had decided to throw open the windows.  Kitties and puppies the
whiffs of outside air and sounds nearly sent me into oblivion...

Notice the glazed look in my cat eyes
I carefully made my way to the sounds and whiffs.  I discovered an entire new world was at the tip of my nose...it is a very rare event to find an open window here because the weather is either
hot as "he-double hockey sticks" or damp, cool and muggy.

I told Mom I thought I'd sit a spell so I could enjoy this momentous event....I tried to count all the glorious things I saw and smelled but I ran out of toes and fingers. One thing for sure I'm glad I stopped on that very day to enjoy the sounds and whiffs because the weather changed abruptly this week.

This is THE END of a very happy cat.
Hugs

What is in a name?

Mom has some odd nicknames, aka terms of endearment,
that she calls me.  Lately the one that completely baffles me is
BUNNY RABBIT
Do you see any resemblance in
Me.......

AND THIS CREATURE?  IF SO, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.WE HAVE HAD AT LEAST 87 MILLION BUNNIES IN OUR YARD THIS SPRING AND SUMMER.  I THINK BUNNIES HAVE TAKEN POSSESSON OF MOM'S BRAIN!!
