HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY
ONE AND ONLY DAD!!
A package came yesterday, and for once it was NOT for me.
It was addressed to my peeps and it was from my human sis and bro-in-law.  OMC you should have heard them squeal. My bro-in-law's hobby is wood turning. The package contained a beautiful pen (on the right) he turned out of walnut for my Dad's b-day.Dad absolutely loves it.

There was also an early Mother's Day present for Mom (on the left).  Lo and behold it is a hand turned walnut stylus for Mom to use with her iPad.
It has a rubber tip and OMC my bro-in-law put a thingy on it so that it plugs into the headphone part of Mom's iPad.  She is in hog heaven. If you aren't from the South, that means she is tickled pink!
You can bigify it for a closer look
Every year around his special day his train brain buddies have a live steam show.  Of course, since it is Dad's day the peeps do everything Dad wants to do.  Here he is stoking the engine in preparation
for a ride around the track

Dad had a great big smile on his birthday face!!
His buddy Mr. Joe (in the red shirt) owns the train Dad is riding/driving

Special things about my Dad
1. He is my Dad
2. He gives a good tummy rub
3. He makes up songs with my name in them
For instance, Madi, Madi, you are our cat, but you are not a fat cat...
He sings these songs to the tune of whatever is playing on the radio.
4. He lets me count while he does (100) push ups.
5. He lets me sit on the counter while he shaves and while he takes a shower
I never ever in 10 years have stayed with Mom while she showers!!

Update on my Grandpa Peep:  The stomach tube came out at 7pm on Wednesday.
He had is first soft meal (jello, broth, orange slushy) at Noon on Thursday.
On Thursday his doctor said we'll see how today goes and talk more tomorrow.
Thank you all very very much for all your prayers, purrs, barks and  words of encouragement this last week.

Thursday Tale...

We are sorry we don't have a post for Thursday Theme Song Day.
Mom and Dad were supposed to be in the mountains on vacay this week; however, due to my Grandpa Peep's sickies they canceled their trip so she moving previously prepared posts around to fill in gaps.
*************
Update:  We are in a holding pattern nothing has changed since Tuesday's update.  Hopefully the doctor will read his X-ray today.

NOW FOR our Post

I love the Bird Channel I get outside my window;
however, I have found the reception is
lousy after dark.  I cannot see one single bird.
If you are having the same problem with your reception,
I'd like to suggest you subscribe to WILD BIRD Magazine
I found the article on hummingbirds very enjoyable and
informative and the pictures are gorgeous!!
Happy Reading

WORDS Wednesday and Update

Thank each and every one of you 100 times for your purrs,
good wishes and support while my Grandpa Peep has been sick.
You are all so sweet and thoughtful.
*****
This update is being written at 6:00 PM on Tuesday.
My peeps spoke to my Grandpa Peep's nurse this afternoon (Tuesday).  She read all the comments and instructions left by the Doctor this morning. The blockage is clear, the stomach tube has been clamped but still in place.  They will see how my G-pa Peep does through the night.  Another xray tomorrow before deciding whether to take it out.  Good news is G-pa Peep has been sleeping a lot today. I told him all the kitties and puppies say the more you sleep the better you feel.
He could possibly start on a soft diet soon.  As always, it is one day at a time and very tiny baby steps.
If you don't know Declan aka Deccy, the most handsome Greyhound, you should.  Yesterday he was reviewing a dog toy.  When Mom read Deccy's review, she said that was a purrfect description her over the last few days.  Deccy's review made her LOL and she needed that.
Deccy said and we quote:

He (a stuffed dog) has a squeak  in his head and a rattle in the  body.

Thanks for the smile Deccy,
 Madi and Mom

Tuesday Tale and Grandpeep update

Mom, Dad, my Grandpa and Grandma Peeps
thank you all for your purrs, and kind words of encouragement.
My Grandpa peep sometimes reads our blog when he is not staring at golf, baseball or watching old television shows on the TVees. We'll be sure that he sees all the kind wishes you sent to him.
Xrays were taken of my Grandpa's tummy early Monday
showed the blockage is getting smaller.  He sat up in a recliner today. Depending on tomorrow's xray they might start him on clear liquids and a short walk.  We're taking each day at a time but it is looking like this blockage was caught in time....
Grandma says, "for an old lady she is doing ok"!!   I get my sense of humor from her. MOL

Madi is a nap guru.
She can nap anywhere, anytime even on her
ACTIVITY MAT.
Maybe is the nip mouse has a potent sleep concoction in it.
Hugs

PURRS for my Grandpa Peep

Addendum to our previously prepared post for today....
My Grandpa peep (Mom's Dad) was taken to the hospital late Saturday night.  He has an extensive history of intestinal blockages and has numberous surgeries.  In 2008, he was told he could not have any more surgeries due to lack of tissue to close up the surgical area. This time it is only partially blocked. We would appreciate your purrs that the stomach tube is able to clear up this blockage. Mom will not be around much to help me with my blog except very early morning and late afternoon. We'll try to keep you updated.  My Grandma Peep needs some help too at her house she is confined to a walker.  She does have a home health aid who comes in 3 days a week.
Thank you
Madi and Mom

*************************
From my 2nd floor diva perch, some of our deck thingies* purchased last  Fall are currently experiencing a second wind due to our mild winter.
Such as this lovely pot of posies.  Dad noticed in early March the tall thingies*  were getting new buds. So he started to water and tend it.  Lo and behold they bloomed again.  The short puffypink flowers did too!!
* Scientific terms
After noticing a new crop of these critters, I asked Dad
how he managed to keep them so healthy.  He said it had absolutely
nothing to do with their survival BUT if they kept eating our deck...
well this is a family blog so I can't print what he said.
Mom says since they love wood she thinks they are a new species called
Squibeav

Here is another pot of posies purchased in the Fall that had a second wind. Dad was happy both of the pots of posies survived
'cause he didn't have to fork out any green papers for Spring plants
for the planters.

Happy Earth Day and Plates

WHILE I ENJOY EASY LIKE SUNDAY IN MY SUN PUDDLE,
Mom wants to share some of our backyard wildlife with you .
I HOPE YOU ENJOY READING THE PLATES MOM SAW THIS WEEK.

We are thrilled to have so much wildlife in our yard this Spring...it must be a sign of a healthy environment.  Mom has some pictures and some sightings w/o pictures

RABBITS
Mr/Mrs. Rabbit comes several times a week

CHIPMUNKS
We have 3 chipmunks living under our deck. We expect 2 are Mr. and Mrs
and the other is their outlaw because they always chase one away. MOL
They pop out several times a day.  This is the first year we've actually seen
three at the same time and boy are they entertaining

CARDINALS
This Spring we've had multiple pairs of birds.
Mrs. Cardinal was a bit shy but Mr. Cardinal is quite attentive.
This is the first year Mom has witnessed him feeding her.
WTG Mr. Cardinal

EASTERN BLUE BIRDS
Mom is happy to report Mrs. Eastern Bluebird loved the nest that Mr.
Bluebird built in our bluebird house.  As of April l, there were 5 bluebird eggs.
It has taken all of Mom's will power NOT to look in the house again since April 1.
She said she doesn't want to do anything to upset Mr. and Mrs.  We expect the babies have hatched.  Mr.  is very protective of the house.  According to what we read, they will be fledging in about 10 days.

Ruby Throated Hummingbirds
Sorry no pictures yet.  We had our first humming bird sighting of 2012 on April 21. Trust me you'll see way too many eventually.

FOXES
Earlier this week at about 6 dark O'clock am, Mom was raising the shades when
she spotted two Red Foxes in our front yard.  This is a first too.
Mind you we live smack in the middle of what is called North Raleigh no where near the country.
