Safety Week: BALLOON CRITTERS

HAPPY FINALE TO SAFETY WEEK!!

WHAT A WEEK WE HAD!! 

WELL friends it appears 1-800-Buttons was a good number

I GOT 87 MILLION CALLS YESTERDAY...

MY FIRST GIG IS

Sitting at the entrance to the Safety pick-nic

making custom balloon critters.

I sat up all night huffing,

puffing and twisting balloons into

BALLOON CRITTERS*.  

WHO KNEW I HAD THESE SKILLS?

SURELY NOT I!!

*Many thanks to THE HANDS

 My buds Frankie and Ernie (who are always punctual)

were the first to arrive...OMDoxies Ernie has the grab his

lickety split...Roxy told me he had soft lips..Frankie

and I were amazed...the balloon didn't even pop.

 Next to arrive was Sarge...he asked for a little blue pony for himself

and an octopus for his Crabby Girls

 Frankie decided a giraffe was what he wanted...cause he is vertically challenged...MOL sorry Frankie.

Ernie brought Roxy back to pick out her very own balloon

critter.  I made her a kangroo ...

WHAT A FUN I HAD...NEXT GIG I'LL BE SURE TO REMEMBER TO BRING MORE BALLOON CRITTERS!!!

We wanted to take this opportunity to give  a

FINALLY FINISHED!!

Day 3 was a pretty and sunny so we expected there would be lots

of worker bees today.  Mom and Dad came home from their

walk to find the worker bees napping in a truck

and sitting in the wheelbarrow THEY were

 Finally it arrived

 It had to back up our very steep and long drive way

as soon as I heard the noise I high tailed it upstairs.

 I told mom for safety reasons she was not allowed

to go pass me unless she knew the password

 Lucky for Mom she remembered the password

so I allowed her on the front porch for a photo shoot

so she could document the cement coming down the hopper

 The worker bees sprayed something in the hopper

to make it slippery and then he wet the dirt so the

cement would stick quickly

 WooHoo the first cement reaches ground ZERO...

aka our sidewalk.  Pouring cement and smoothing it on our walk and driveway was an all day job.  It had to sit

for a full 24 hours before they could return to 

lay the brick pavers in 3 sections.....

 Lo and behold it started raining the next day

and rained all weekend.  As of Sunday 8/10, the 3 paver sections are wet and muddy.  The peeps hoped and purred the weekend rain would end allowing these areas to dry before

the mason came on Monday 8/11 to lay the brick pavers.

Obviously the Old gray Mare* (TOGM) and Dad** cannot drive on the drive way due to the holes but they can walk on it.  They have to park the cars in front of the house.  They have to hoof it up and down the driveway. ...and trust me when I say there has been a good deal of whinny* and whining** going on here.  TOGM told me she hopped over the mud hole.  I told her I was purrty no hopping is allowed during

We have 3 sections of brick pavers in the drive way.
 One at top of drive way,one about 18' behind this one
and one at the bottom.  Our drive way is ~90' long

 Dad also asked them to put a row of pavers where the sidewalk and driveway meet

SAFETY WEEK: PART II

Day Two started  with all kinds of banging, knocking and I 

don't know what all.  On the chance that it was a cat burglar,

I took it upon myself to guard Mom's pocketbook

The peeps were certainly glad to get rid of all

the big chunks of concrete jungle.  We hope and purr the 

sun stays out so we don't have a big mud hole.

 All the knocking, and banging and sawing and what all

was coming from this guy.  He is called a framer.  He sets

up the wood frames where the concrete will be poured

I hollered to him that it was Safety week and to be sure to be careful with the saw and hammer.

 The driveway 

 and sidewalk are all framed and ready for the cement

truck to arrive.  I can hardly wait to measure the noise level

when that monster comes.

 Mom gave me the all clear so I finally decided to come

half way down the stairs.

Safety Week Part 1

We thank Bites and Sarge for hosting this great event.

It is quite a co-in-ceee-dence that I have posts this week about

safety...it was not planned....JUST HAPPY SAFE ACCIDENT

This is a picture of our very (un)SAFE drive way.

Several years ago we had a (now deceased) tree

that got too big making its roots pop up our driveway
and obviously that crack is a big safety issue!

The plans were for it to be repaired in Mid July;

however, the monsoon season started in Raleigh.

The contractor said we needed 3 days of full sun...

ha ha ha to that

Finally the first part of the week of 8/4 was predicted to be 

sunny and dry...so low and behold at 3pm on Monday Aug 4

Bob (the) Cat arrived to start demo on our driveway

Mom took photos from the upstairs window 

so that she was safely out of their way.

Our drive way turned out to be a challenge for

Bob(the)Cat and his crew...they had to stop

several times to sharpen Bob(the)Cats claws.

Finally Bob(the)Cat got tough digging big

hunks of concrete up (safely).  Now they were 

nice and efficient but THEIR loudest work

started about the time I was ready for my din-din.

My dining station is NOT in the middle of the floor it is

behind me where you see my my fountain and my other bowl but I would not eat there. So mom moved it here.  Dad said he thought

I wanted to be looking straight towards the front door to eat

just in case.  

Thankfully I did not get indigestion and I was able to finish but 

this Diva does not like her meals messed up!!

About 5:15 Bob(the)Cat and his cubs finished the demo so the

peeps headed out to check things out.

They found Bob(the)Cat and his crew rock climbing...

Dad hollered you guys be 

S A F E

Thus day one ended with our driveway looking like Stonehenge
