Saturday Secret

......my adoring mom is extremely jealous of my ability to nap anywhere, anytime.

I think that is why she is always taking photos of me napping...she hopes to disturb me.
MOLMOL Joke is on her.

OMCs we want to thank our buds the Eastside Cats for this informative comment left yesterday
about our Flower Friday.

It's a compass rose! Well, that's the name of the cardinal points, with the mid-points. Very cool, and very nautical too.

Flower Friday

with  Rosy SassyPants and Da Brudders

TOGM had to work a bit to get this Special Flower Friday post.
She had to drive, then park Gracie, then walk about a block
Would you like to take a virtual trip with Bigger than life Moi (after all it is my blog)? I'm sitting
on the  Mariner's Crossing entrance sign.  This a fitting place to be in prep for
National Lighthouse day August 7th.

Just to the right of this sign there is the most gorgeous star shaped planter with a beautimous flowers.
Here are some photos.  In order to get the entire star shape mom would have needed to cross a 6 lane road (with a stop light) but then she woulda been kinda far away so you get parts and pieces instead.

She happened to catch a red light snapped this from the car
Then she took a right turn parked about a block down in the Mariner's Crossing visitor's lot...

REMINDER

Guess what  August 7th, is National Lighthouse Day,

Rosy, Arty and Jakey's mama made this gorgeous badge.

It was on this day in 1789, that Congress approved an Act for the establishment and support of lighthouse, beacons, buoys and public piers. In Celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the signing of the Act and the commissioning of the first Federal lighthouse, Congress passed a resolution which designated August 7, 1989 as National Lighthouse Day.  Read all about it here

Thoroughly Poetic Pictorial Thursday

Today we join Two  SPOILED CAT
Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.

Here is today's photo prompt
We thank Mom Pam for all the effort she puts into finding
these lovely photos for us.

All Aboard
This is a true story about a dinner train my peeps took.
Mom remembers the refurbished Carolina Dinner Train looking very much like this too.

To ride the rails all the day long would be divine.
However, to dine in one like this was sublime.
In 2001 to Aberdeen (NC) the peeps did drive.
In about 90 minutes, they climbed aboard the Carolina Dinner Train
around about five.
When 'all aboard' was called the atmosphere came alive.
Everyone eagerly found their table...ohhhhhing and ahhhhing
over the lovely table settings.
The aroma of dinner drifted from the galley making their tummies churn.
Bells, whistles and rattling rails added to the charm.
Lamps gave off an amber glow.
As food service began, time slowed down over the next three hours.
Fine dining was enhanced by an ever changing views as the
train wound its way through the small Sandhills towns.
A grand time was had, visions of times gone by formed in
everyone's head.

Tuesday Tale of Royal Mail

Oh my Cats ***Not Earl, our mailman, (who by the way is the bestest ever)
delivered it to me post haste!!

In case you don't know the story of Not Earl....here it is.
****Our mail man story:  Not Earl has been our mailman for nearly 30 years. Until about 10 years ago, my peeps thought our his name was Earl.
One week Not Earl was gone for some time. Dad finally asked the substitute mailman if Earl was sick?  He said, do you mean Tony?  Dad said, Oh, His name is "Not Earl"?
The substitute said no it is Not Earl, it is Tony.
From that day forward the peeps still call him (not to his face) "Not Earl"!
My peeps don't think he looks like a Tony.
Every time mom tells this story I ask her what a Tony looks like.
I never get an answer.
MOL MOL MOL

BREAKING NEWS
BTW while we are reacquainting all with Not Earl we also wanted to tell you
he is retiring at the end of August.  He has been our mailman for 30+years.
Our neighborhood is planning a surprise for him on Friday, August 31, 2018.
Everyone will be decorating their mailboxes with good luck wishes and thank yous.
Of course we will tell you all about it
