 Saturday Squirrely Snicker

Symmetry

This tree has been standing all alone for  the last 5 or 6 years.
So thin and top heavy it has weathered ice, wind, hurry-canes and probably a few squirrels
We see it annually when we take our day trip to Cedar Creek Gallery

Nature and Feline Friday

Thanks LLB Gang for Hosting Nature Friday
Thanks Comedy Plus for hosting Feline Friday

Last walk I saw a gorgeous plant/tree/bush.  We looked all around the area where it was growing for an ID tag. We found nothings so I sent an email to Walter and Millie's humans aka Bird Brains and Dog Tales we all enjoy their gardens and learning about all the plants and flowers they have.

Cindy, I have no clue what this plant is.  Pic is attached.  Wondering if you or Charlie can identify it. The leaves are giants (2nd photo is a close up) and the stem is burgundy about 2" in diameter

Well as I figured I showed the pictures to Charlie and his crazy encyclopedic mind knew right away that it was a castor bean plant.

He also informed me (and the wiki link backs it up) that the beans of this plant are very poisonous.

I went way back to Friday,

October 9, 2009 for this Flashback Angel Madi was in her Prime at Age 7 1/2 years

Mom, here I am up here.
No I'm busy reading I can't come play with you now

Ok now Mom is gone I can do what I really want to do, take a nap.
The book will keep my head at just the right angle to see Mom when
she comes around the corner again.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #40

Today we join Two  SPOILED CATS

Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.

Here is today's inspiration

Of course the photo reminded me of, my first two Furry
Nephews: Pup  and Kat and Rocky made 3.

How my furry nephews came to be BRUDDERS

Pup was down on his luck
but that was about to change.
On the side road he roamed with no home.
All of a sudden two humans, full of love,
opened their SUV door.  They call to him softly
he took a leap of faith into his new FUREVER life.
When his tummy was full and he was rested,
He got a bath and lo and behold he was not brown...
He was golden.

Kat was spotted under a bush in the garden
Being a CAT he took more convincing.
The gentle voice of the lady with lovely golden hair
was soothing...he inched closer to the humans.
They left food on the deck...then one morning to
their surprise, the Man human announced with glee
we have a Tabby visitor on the deck come see.
From that day forward Kat got closer and closer
until he was nestled in the arms of the golden hair lady.
He had a FUREVER home inside never to be hungry or lonely.

Kat and Pup were instantly fast and loving friends just exactly like the photo above.

Then fast forward almost a year and a half..

One day to their surprise the kind humans saw
an itty bitty ginger under bush where Kat had been spotted.
He was very cautious and kinda spitty kitty.
When you are you alone, you have to be brave.
It took some convincing but this Kitty had found his home.
He, too, found his way into the loving arms lady with golden hair.
One day, the lady and the man said you have had it hard little one
no worries we will love you through thick and thin this is your home
We'll call you Rocky
Rocky needed time to adjust to his home and his new family.
PUP, like all Dogs, loves everyone. He and Rocky became instant friends.

Side note from a proud Auntie HiC
Slowly but surely I am confident the lady with the golden hair and gentle voice will
convince Rocky that being loving brudder to Kat is more acceptable
than chasing Kat. And convince Kat that a rambunctious brudder
to run and play with could be fun.

 Hugs from their proud
Auntie HiC

In Purrsuit of Flavors: Halloween

I thank Da Phenny and Chef Shoko for
hosting.

WHEN: WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 7th

and our motto is: HALLOWEEN

Crock Pot Pumpkin Bread

Recipe below.  I had all the ingredients on hand except the Libby's Pumpkin which was $2.49 USD at Harris Teeter Grocery store
Very economical treat.

Steps #1-2 are self explanatory no photos
Steps #3-6 photos below

Step #3

Step #4
2 cups of water in the bottom of a crock pot large enough for a loaf pan to fit

 Step #6
Paper towels covering the crock pot.
Make sure paper towels are trapped around the lid
so they don't slip.

The unveiling...
After 3 hours of cooking and 30 minute of sitting in the crock pot,
I took the lid off and remove the paper towels...this is what I saw

I let it cool for about 30  minutes on the counter then turned it out onto a plate
Verdict: It is delicious!!

Hints:
After you take the loaf pan out of the crock pot, let it cool about 30 minutes before turning out.

NO ABSOLUTELY NO PEEPING AT THE PUMPKIN BREAD WHILE IT IS COOKING

Happy Tuesday Tale.....

We have been going to Seaboard Cafe for at least 25 years maybe longer

When I was working, I went at least once a week and we have always had Saturday lunch at Seaboard

Here are a few photos that might explain why we love it

Excellent menu of beloved favorites there are Daily specials.

This sign over the door says it best:  It's all good
I love Sylvester the Cat saying: Let's do Lunch

Such a welcoming atmosphere

I absolutely adore the decorations and eclectic characters.
I have coveted the Monk at the door for 25 years...I'd love to have him on my front porch

Seaboard Cafe is located in the middle of Logan's
Logan's is always decorated inside and out...such a HAPPY place to go no matter the day of the week.

Happy Tuesday
Hugs Cecilia

Awww Monday and Sparks

 Hosted by Comedy Plus

Rhymes with Orange on Thursday October was quite timely

This is a Venus Flytrap made out of scrap metal.  Note: The tongue in the picture on the left
has a fly.....MADE from a Spark plug
There was a baby Venus Flytrap (right photo) it was still learning to catch flies.

I have no clue what the art on the left represents...maybe antennas of an insect
Photo on the left at first glance could be birds or just gourds with funny stems.

Recently I posted about our annual trip to Cedar Creek Gallery to see their
Pumpkin Exhibition.  If you missed it, click HERE
