A couple of weeks ago I was saw this fella smack in the middle of my front sidewalk. He was right in the foot path. I found a leaf it took forever for him to inch his way onto it.
There was a lot of symmetry going on with this fella
I moved him to a secluded area.
I returned from my errands a few hours later. I was happy to see he must
inched his way to almost under under Ruby our Camellia.

ReplyDeleteThat's one big millipede! They are so important for the composting and soil health - congrats on becoming an insect Uber! YAM xx
I love the insect uber! never thought of it that way. right now bob is the uber for those yelling rain frogs.. even insects are fun, or worms or whatever this guy might be. I tried to tell if he is a millipede or a centipede and looked it up but can't tell. could you tell if it has 2 legs per segment or 1 leg per segment. brahahaha go find him and check it out
ReplyDeleteMillipedes are a light brown and eat unwanted insects in the house, such as cockroaches. They don't bite people. Centipedes do. We never kill our millipedes cause we know they're here doing their job! Then they leave...or die of malnutrition. :(
DeleteHa ha, silly symmetry photo, Cecilia! Day before yesterday while mowing, dad spotted a little turtle trying to claw through a fence to get out of harm's way. Dad stopped, picked up the poor little guy and carefully slid him through an opening to safety at the bottom of the fence.
ReplyDeleteHow nice of you to help the little fella.
ReplyDeleteThat guy was lucky you came along to move him to a safe place, so he didn't get squashed by someone not paying attention.
ReplyDeleteDid you stop to count his legs to see if it was a centipede or millipede?
ReplyDeleteHugs to Angel Madi and sweet nature photo and glad you gave him a leaf and moved him too ~ fun captions ~ Xo
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

ReplyDeleteGood for you getting him to a safe place. I have to admit that centipede/millipede kinda creep me out.
