Happy Tuesday from Chilly Colorado

Thank you to our

Hostess Sandee at Comedy Plus

It’s a chilly morning here in southwest Colorado, & we had a dusting of snow overnight (May 5)

I’m not a fan of snow in May, so I’m laying low until it warms up! 😹
Do you see me?

We’re happy to announce that we have 3 broadtailed hummingbirds; 2 males & 1 female. Yes, the males have been fighting each other for the female, & she’s loving it❣️

What shall we name this jeweled beauty?

Brrrrrr & ❤️Rocky

Dearest Rocky
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Rocky you are the smartest kitty in the RV.
You found the purrfect spot to hide from OLD man Winter.
I love your cuddly blankie a lot.
The Lady broad tail is absolutely Pretty and I think that is a great name just like the song says.

Awww Monday with my adorable Nephews

We thank our Hostess Sandee at Comedy Plus

Dearest Auntie HiC
We had some excitement, April 30th, which was my 4th gotcha day.
Mom had taken out the RV rugs so she could vacuum & mop the floors. When Dad brought in the rugs, a hitchhiking lizard was hiding inside one.
The lizard fell out of the rug & ran under the recliners, with Rocky & I in hot pursuit.

On the other hand, Mom screamed & ran into the bedroom, slamming the door behind her. 😹😹

Now, in her defense, this was not the kind of cute, little lizard we have in Georgia.

This monster, a desert horned lizard,  looked like a miniature, cat-eating dinosaur! 🙀

After a brief discussion (Mom freaking out), it was decided to let us do what we do instinctively, look for prey, hopefully without anyone (🦎) getting hurt.

Rocky understood the assignment & immediately got to work, sniffing out the enemy. It took him less than a minute  (48 seconds) to track it down.

Mom took us to bedroom while Dad opened all RV doors. The 🦎 jumped right out the door, & hasn’t been seen since! 😹

I was proud of the little fellow❣️ All the excitement wore me out.

❤️ Kat

Dearest Rocky and Kat OMCs that was a lot excitement for one day.

Rocky yay you are a Hero saving your family from a cat-eating lizard and on your 4th Gotcha Day!! Auntie would have been on the roof screaming.

Lovingly and very Proud

Auntie HiC

Kit wrote that she had a mental image of me on an RV roof screaming. I added her peeping from behind the door.

(FYI this is not our RV...Auntie grabbed this off PiZap)

So of course I had to do with it.  All created via PiZap

Nature and Feline Friday

Nature Friday host LLB Gang   Click here Hostess Miss Mimi

Dearest Auntie HiC

Wednesday, May 1,  We  arrived at our final destination, Priest Gulch Campground, Dolores, Colorado!

We’ve been coming  here for spring hummingbird migration since  2017. Always exciting to see the different types of hummers.

Mom said we experienced 2 seasons on May 1,   When we left NM it was spring.  Just a few hours later when we arrived in Colorado in the winter
Mom heard a ruby-throated hummingbird soon after we got set up by the river. It was very cold our first night (see above), so feeders went up on May 2.

Our very first hummer in Colorado
It is a Broad tail

#ifyouneedmeyouknowwheretofindme

This is the view out our back window.  I think we’ll be happy here for a few weeks.

Love from your devoted Nephews

and Happy Feline and Nature Friday to all our friends

Kat and Rocky

Dearest Nephews...OMCs I am so looking forward to seeing all  your wonderful photos and vidoes from Colorado..this first video is so peaceful...I love watching and hearing water

Mom found this video of the first time we met, April 30, 2020.
It was truly love at first sight for us both❣️
Best day of my life❣️

❤️ Rocky

Mom says I melted her heart because I came to her so willingly. Kat played hard to get! 😹

As you all know Mom was a Dog Mom for a very long time... four years ago
she called me a yellow cat...she quickly learned I was a GingerMan in training.

Dearest Rocky what a brave boy you were to take that really and truly leap of LOVE into Mom's loving care.
You taught her all about the grandness of Gingermen!!
Love Auntie HiC

Kat and Rocky sent me this adorable loving video to share on National Tabby Day

Awww Monday and Sparks

 Thank you to our

Host Comedy Plus

My neighbor (the one I've made the memory quilts out of her mom and sister's blouses) sent me a text and the photo below.
This is the raveled corner
Jane:
"What is the best way to mend the corner of this throw.   It was on the back of a chair in  Susan's home (her sister). It had never been used.  Now I use it to snuggle with when I watch TV.  Just would like it not to start shredding apart."
Me:
Looking at it here (might be different in person) I would say by hand matching yarn/thread either or with a crochet stitch.
Jane:
"Well I don't know any crochet stitches.  Thread is fine and I don't care if the repair is noticeable, Just want to stop the raveling."

Me:
I replied I know several crochet stitches that might work..need to see it in person.

***************************

Jane lost her Mom and her sister, Susan, with 16 months of each other.
I knew this was a special throw.  As I examined the entire border of the throw, I saw other potential areas that would ravel.  I went a tad over board on my repair...
Jane thinks I just repaired the corner.  I crocheted a single crochet edge around the entire throw.  It is 48" long and 63" wide

Below is the photo of my repair.
I have skeins and skeins of yarn.  I selected Lion Brand Yarn, Mt. Rainier Tweed and it is washable.  Luckily I had a hook smaller (USD3/3.25mm) enough to go thru the thick throw.

I was very happy to do it for her. She is so very thoughtful and kind.
No matter who is sick or how well she knows them she cooks a complete meal
to deliver to their door.

I finished the edging last weekend.  Jane was away at family wedding.
I'll take it to her when she returns.

Final Friday Feature, Nature and Feline Friday

First of all I'd like to wish our hostess YAM-Aunty a very happy birthday...

.
.
 and to visit YAM's blog

On March 1, 2024 I posted about our new and improved landscaping around our mail box

Beloiw is what happened sometime after 2pm on a Tuesday March 12th
someone played havoc with our mailbox
No clue who they didnot stop.  We have a cul de sac text group we all suspect the city trash truck. Tuesday is trash day  they turn the corner like their tails  on fire.  Big and noisy all
Didn’t knock the post over (it is in cement)or run up on the curb
To say we were MAD would be an understatement but since this is a famiy show I'll JUST SAY M A D X 1,000,000
We used a bungee cord and tape to secure it.

It was an ordeal to get the wooden brace off below.  We really did use every tool in Bryan's tool box to get that brace off.  We are pretty sure the wooden brace was STEEL disguised in wood.
It was secured  into post from inside with screws and nails.

Thankfully the post was not damaged. It was set in cement ten years ago. No way we could have gotten it out of the ground.
Bryan ordered  a new mail box and steel brace for the post. They arrived the end of March.
He repainted post We spent most of the first weekend in April taking it apart the old brack and getting new brace secured.
There is still some touch up painting to do.

WE SINCERELY HOPE THIS IS THE 3rd AND FINAL INSTALLMENT OF MAIL BOX MAYHEM

After the post was up and painted....dag blasted birds (I think the Trout Talking Tabbies will like this) decided to use the gold dome as their loo seat.  Their poooop ran all down the side.  They now know I am the smartest bird on the block.
We live on the corner and have a nice breeze.  I bought a whirlygig.  Attached it low enough that it whirls in their face and it is shiny birds don't like shiny. No a trace of poooop since I installed my mailbox whirlygig.

I hope this is the end of the mailbox saga
