Thoroughly poetic and Thankful Thursday #247

VERY THANKFUL TO REPORT THE GEORGIA CREW'S POWER WAS RESTORED AT 2 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING. IT WENT OFF AT 8:30 AM LAST SATURDAY MORNING.

THANKFUL FOR ANIMAL SAFE SNOW MELT. OUR HOUSE FACES NORTH
WE COVERED THE PORCH STEPS AND SIDE WALK WITH IT BEFORE THE MESS STARTED.
I ADDED MORE SUNDAY.  MONDAY MORNING IT WAS 32 DEGREES YAY I HEARD ICE DRIPPING OFF TREES. I WAS ABLE TO SWEEP ICE OFF STEPS YAY SNOW MELT.

Thankful the critters heeded my warning to stay off Chipmunk Highway which was covered with sleet, ice and freezing rain. January 30.  They constantly run back and forth all day long.

Also very thankful we HAD no where to go.  More on the wintry event on tomorrow on Nature, Final Feature Feline Friday tomorrow.

Today is Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy at Two Spoiled Cats

Today's photo challenge

Mirror, Mirror on the wall
The lovely young woman looking at me
was a shining light in her prime.
If we could speak, the tales
we would share.
I'd tell her to enjoy each moment in time,
not to rush the precious hours of her youth.
Time passes quickly, memories and the journey along the way
 are forever.

  1. So glad to see Ms Kit, Kat, Cali and Rocky have electricity again. That was way too long in this bitter cold. And another storm coming too soon. Good poem and I enjoyed this peaceful meaningful photo.

  2. I'm glad power had been restored for them!

Hurrah for snow melter. I couldn't be without mine!

And your poem is spot on. Youth definitely is wasted on the young. 🙃

  4. So happy everyBODY is safe and warm! That was one heck of a storm. It's hard to complain about going down to 33° So nice of you to alert all the critters to stay off Chipmunk Highway! It looks crunchy icy there... that poor plant on the deck😟 Seriously, glad you two are warm and safe.

  5. I'm glad to hear power was restored for our friends in Georgia. It's always good to not leave the house when the weather is so bad and I'm glad your salt worked to keep walking safe. Sometimes when the weather is bad we don't go get our mail. Our driveway is as long as a football field so the walk is long. We don't let it pile up for more than a couple of days. We wouldn't want the mail person to call for a welfare check on us. BOL!

  6. We only lost power for 2 hours. But, we have a whole house generator so it kicked on. Love your poem.

  11. My goodness, we were just having a chat with our 46 year old son and he was chuckling about a conversation with his neighbors when they were all trying to clear up as much as they could. They got to talking about old shows and son said something like do you remember that old show about such and such. They said no, we weren't born yet, lol! I still feel young-ish in my head but my body is yelling at me more these days, lol! Our high tomorrow will be 26 degrees, low 9. Right now it's 7. So glad you got your power back thanks to those hardworking crews out there. We've been fortunate and have not had a problem so far. Have a great rest of the week. Hugs, Denise

  13. I am praying that this next storm won't be as bad as with all that ice.
Glad you got rid of the ice in your yard. I am on bags#3 of salt and sand which we mix together...last year one bag of each lasted the whole winter!
Nice to hear that the Georgia crew got their power back on. We have a whole house generator, we don't often need it, but it such a blessing when we do.

  14. I know the power companies do the best they can as fast as they can, I'm glad the power is back for our friends.

    Your poem is very wise.

  17. I am glad that Kit and all the family have their power restored. I have never heard of Snow Melt, probably because we are unlikely to need it here, but it does sound like a great product. Lovely poem too.

  18. That's a long time to go without power. Glad they finally got it back.
    Hooray for snow melt.

  19. Lulu: "Our Dada had a sign like that above his bed when he was in ICU a while back! Although it wasn't because the floor was icy, just because they didn't trust him to be able to stand up on his own."

  20. We have salt for ice. Is that bad? What do you use? The dogs' Auntie Jen lives 3 hours northwest of us and was snowed in for several days with four feet of snow and ice.
Your poem is so lovely and thoughtful. Thank you for sharing.
