Dear Auntie HiC,
Maybe they stay in the nest so long because they’re embarrassed to be seen in public! 😹
Mom has a funny story (it wasn’t so funny at the time) about pigeons.
When Mom was 4 years old she and her parents were visiting her grandparents in Savannah, GA. Savannah eventually became home to
Mom when her dad retired from the Marine Corps.
On this particular trip Mom, her mother, & Grandma Kitty visited Forsyth Park in downtown Savannah. As they usually did, they purchased parched peanuts to feed the pigeons. For some unknown reason, Grandma Kitty thought it would be funny to put a few peanuts on Mom’s head to see the pigeons’ reaction. This was completely out of character for Grandma who was actually very kind & loving.
This picture was taken about 10 seconds before that occurred. To Grandma’s surprise about 5 pigeons immediately flew onto Mom’s head and started pecking away at the peanuts! Needless to say, there’s no picture of Mom jumping up , screaming & running around hysterically! 🙀 Grandma was so remorseful, they stopped on the way home for banana splits.
❤️ Rocky
Dearest Rocky Auntie HiC is 1000% sure if you had been there on that day you would have shown those pesky pigeons NO ONE Messes with your adorable Mom and her Mom. However, I do love that it ended with a Banana Split.
Love Auntie HiC

ReplyDeleteOh yes, banana splits go a long way to fixing relationships! Excellent fun fact, Rocky... while one might have some difficulty telling the squab it's cute, it has to be admitted that baby anythings have an automatic awww-factor! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
oh sure that baby is super cute...and what a wonderful photo... the pigeons know what people have a good heart...
ReplyDeleteI think a banana split was called for after such a traumatic event. It is funny though. The squab is rather ugly. I agree that he must stay in the nest so long because he's embarrassed to be seen.
