Thankful Thursday hosted
Earlier this week, there was a wildfire in the forest about 5 miles from where Kit, David, Kat, Rocky and Cali live. It burned 120 acres. I am very thankful it was quickly contained before it reached homes in the area.

Today is Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy at Two Spoiled Cats
Today's photo challenge
My first thought when I saw this photo was the song,
"Muskrat love', written by Willis Alan Ramsey
performed by Captain and Tennille in 1980
Here are the first three verses of Musk Rat Love,
I will write a version of Hedge Hog love in red under each verse
Muskrat, muskrat candlelight
Doin' the town and doin' it right
In the evenin', it's pretty pleasin'
Hedge hog, hedge hog walking around,
Doin' the town in fine style in your barefeet
In the mornin' lookin' fine in the rising sun
Muskrat Susie, Muskrat Sam
Do the jitterbug
Out in the muskrat land
And they shimmy
Sam is so skinny
Hedge hog Hank and Hedge hog Heidi
Doin' two step on the street
You shimmy to the right and shimmy to the left
Both of you well groomed and lookin' fine
And they whirl and they twirl and they tango
Singin' and jinglin' a jango
Floatin' like the heavens above
Looks like muskrat love
They whirl and the twirl
to the music in they hear in their Hedge hog ears
Gentle breezes blowing, melodies
flowing sure looks like Hedge hog love to me

ReplyDeleteI'm glad the fire kept its distance... and I love how you saw hedgehogs in that image! YAM xx
I have never heard that song, but it fits the picture. I am glad the wildfire never reached Kit and all the family.
ReplyDeleteFire is so scary - glad everyone is safe. As for the poem - WE LOVE IT! BRAVO!
ReplyDeleteLove, Pam and Teddy
We love your song lyrics and we are so happy that the fire was contained before it did major damage to homes!
ReplyDeleteNow there is a blast from the past. I haven't heard that song in a long time. I like your version also.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that fire was contained before it reached any homes.
I had forgotten the old song muskrat love! Thanks for the reminder. I'm sorry to hear there's been so many forest fires in the Deep South this year. I know there was one in the Smokies just a couple weeks ago. Glad the family is safe in georgia. It was warm and dry here yesterday and I rode my bicycle for the first time!
ReplyDeleteFires are so scary as they move so fast and can be so hard to stop! Glad they got it contained quickly.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that wildfire happened in the forest. That is a worry of ours here where I am too as our houses back up straight into a forest. Thank heavens all is well.
ReplyDeleteI love your version of that song and it's perfect for that picture. Thanks for letting us know the Georgia gang are safe.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem today C...Muskrat Love is one of my favorite 70s songs. I enjoyed it sung by the Captain and Tennile and by America.
ReplyDeleteWe are so very thankful the wildfire by Kit's was quickly contained. I know how scary that can be!
Big hugs,
Beth
Good to know the Three Amigos and their Peeps are safe! We have experienced the worries of a fire in the Preserve that backs up to our house. They lifted the burn ban for Sarasota county... no idea why. Hope the winds stay down for them and we all get some rain to bust the drought. Loved Muskrat Love and enjoyed your poem!
ReplyDeletePerfect song for the photo ~ Hugs ^_^
ReplyDeleteHugs to you Cecilia and Angel Madi ~ xo
That really is a wonderful thankful!!! I remember that song and that fabulous duo. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteYour rendition of Muskrat Love is great! Capt’n & Tennille would be proud! Such a sweet song!

ReplyDeleteI had to click and listen to the Captain and Tenile singing Muskrat Love (well it was just her that sang, but the Captain made the muskrats sing!) What a fun take on the picture, and I liked your version a lot, too!
