Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday#258

  Thankful Thursday hosted

Earlier this week, there was a wildfire in the forest about 5 miles from where Kit, David, Kat, Rocky and Cali live.  It burned 120 acres.  I am very thankful it was quickly contained before it reached homes in the area.

Today is Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy at Two Spoiled Cats

Today's photo challenge

My first thought when I saw this photo was the song,

"Muskrat love', written by Willis Alan Ramsey

performed by Captain and Tennille in 1980

Here are the first three verses of Musk Rat Love,

I will write a version of Hedge Hog love in red under each verse

Muskrat, muskrat candlelight
Doin' the town and doin' it right
In the evenin', it's pretty pleasin'

Hedge hog, hedge hog walking around,
Doin' the town in fine style in your barefeet
In the mornin' lookin' fine in the rising sun
Muskrat Susie, Muskrat Sam
Do the jitterbug
Out in the muskrat land
And they shimmy
Sam is so skinny

Hedge hog Hank and Hedge hog Heidi
Doin' two step on the street
You shimmy to the right and shimmy to the left
Both of you well groomed and lookin' fine
And they whirl and they twirl and they tango
Singin' and jinglin' a jango
Floatin' like the heavens above
Looks like muskrat love

They whirl and the twirl
to the music in they hear in their Hedge hog ears
Gentle breezes blowing,  melodies
flowing sure looks like Hedge hog love to me

  7. I had forgotten the old song muskrat love! Thanks for the reminder. I'm sorry to hear there's been so many forest fires in the Deep South this year. I know there was one in the Smokies just a couple weeks ago. Glad the family is safe in georgia. It was warm and dry here yesterday and I rode my bicycle for the first time!

  12. Good to know the Three Amigos and their Peeps are safe! We have experienced the worries of a fire in the Preserve that backs up to our house. They lifted the burn ban for Sarasota county... no idea why. Hope the winds stay down for them and we all get some rain to bust the drought. Loved Muskrat Love and enjoyed your poem!

  18. I had to click and listen to the Captain and Tenile singing Muskrat Love (well it was just her that sang, but the Captain made the muskrats sing!) What a fun take on the picture, and I liked your version a lot, too!
