Symmetry in Nature by Kit

Our property is covered in many different types of ferns. Unfortunately, I haven’t taken the time to identify them all, but they are all beauties of nature.

Ferns exhibit two primary forms of symmetry:
Bilateral symmetry (mirror-image structure) in their fronds.

Self-similar symmetry (fractal patterns) in their overall growth.

Bravo Bravo...Kit this is beautiful

  1. What a beautiful fern. I think the only ones that live closer around me are the ones they call Christmas ferns because the fronts have tiny leaves that look like Christmas sleighes? Hubby and I always laugh every year because a neighbor close by buys at least 20 yes that's right 20, Boston Ferns to hang from their maple trees. We keep wondering why they don't just dig up some that are growing from the ground behind them. But I guess it's a good thing they don't disturb them.

  7. Love the whole idea with you doing fern symmetry! They really have symmetry down. I am a fan of ferns. Lot's of native ferns in Florida and we loved our ferns in Missouri.
