Madi: Today is Lip Appreciation Day.....

Pucker up.......

In honor of Lip appreciation day we thought we'd share some interesting lip trivia:

1.In 1770 the English Parliament banned the wearing of lipstick stating that,
"women found guilty of seducing men into matrimony by cosmetic means should be tried for witchcraft."
2. In 1924, the New York Board of Health tried to ban the wearing of lipstick, claiming that it could poison unsuspecting men. (What about the women wearing it?)
3. By World War II the pendulum had swung the other way. It was considered patriotic and a gal's duty to 'put on her face.'
4. The first "kiss proof" lipstick hit the stores in 1950.
5. As late as 2007, many major brands of lipstick still contained lead.
6. Last but certainly not least, each year Beverly Hills plastic surgeons compare notes to determine which star's features are most desired by their clients.

In 2009, Angelina Jolie's LIPS won

Madi and I found this information in "The Essential Book of Useless Information".

  1. My M appreciates her lips several times a day by using a thingy called Chapstick. Have you noticed that many humans are addicted to this stuff?

  6. Madi!! Your Mom is soooo smart! I love learning new things from you two!! Would you believe that we had a fish - a koi - that we called Lolita because even though she was all white, she had orange lips! It was as if she was wearing lipstick!! Thanks for sharing all this fun info!! Have a great day, Lautrec and Tiny

  8. Awww, Madi...wook at your widdle wips! Haha...that's what my mom says to me sometimes so I thought I'd say it to you, too. She's so silly. My mom says that it's a good thing women today aren't tried for witchcraft for number 1! Did you know she wears lipstick almost every single day? But it's always the same color. Maybe she needs to branch out a little.

PeeS. Mom has gotten us some of those no stuffing stuffies before but I just don't care for them that much. I mean, what's the point? Plus, stuffie stuffing makes GREAT decorations for the carpet and furniture.

  15. Very interesting info. My assistant says she's never worn lipstick in her life, but like a few previous commenters... she was addicted to chapstick. She went "cold turkey" a couple of years ago & switched to vaseline only.
She read that there is something in chapstick that really is addicting. She also can't believe that anybody would want Angeline Jolie's fat lips. Pfffttt.

P.S. Thanks for the limerick! Very cute:)

  16. Hi Madi!
It was an interesting post about lipsticks!! I learned a lot!
My mom loves lipsticks but it's funny that she's only wearing it in the morning. I think that's because she's eating it with her lunch!

And I think Beverly MeowHills plastic surgeons will agree that your lips will win the most desired by the cats!!
