Where Madi doesn't sleep at night....

Many, many pictures have been posted of Madi, during the day, sleeping on a towel at the foot of the bed.

Several weeks ago Jack asked all of his friends to tell him where we slept. Today I'll tell you where Madi doesn't sleep.

For some reason, Madi will not sleep on the foot of the bed at night. She has to be on top of the blanket either sleeping on one of our limbs or in the crook of our knees. In this picture, she thinks she is going to spend the night where her Dad's feet should be; however, once she is asleep this 10+ lb cat turns into solid lead. Whomever she has decided to sleep with on may not move a hair or her inner lioness will come out. Really and truly this docile looking creature will turn on you in the dark.

Also, once awake she is AWAKE and starts to prowl. Her favorite nocturnal activity is to jump up and down on one piece of furniture that is about 5' tall, has 7 drawers, each drawer has two handles. Each time she jumps up or down all 14 handles clink and clang for what seems like an eternity.

For this reason, Madi and the humans do not share sleeping quarters.
Madi has a very nice homemade blanket with lions and tigers and elephants oh my, (to sleep on).
Respectfully submitted a very rested Mom

  1. You always make me smile! :)

Just be thankful she doesn't snore.
    Or run in her sleep.
Or decide to expel all the gas that has built up during the day.

Fortunately, Jack lies on the foot of the bed until I get ready to get in and warms up where my cold feet are going to go :)

  3. Hi Madi & Mom,

Madi's sleeping habits sound a lot like Tasha's. She wanted to sleep on her humans, usually me. Some mornings I would wake up and couldn't breathe because there was 16 lbs of cat lying on my chest.

Cindi has a chair covered with a blanket, that is her preferred sleeping place. She will not sleep on our bed for some reason.

  8. Gosh, Madi, I thinks it's very much nice that you bequeath your bed to your humans at night. I hope they appreciate your unselfishness!

Capn Ripley used to sing pirate shanties at all hours of the night. And he would accompany himself by opening the cabinet doors and then letting them slam shut. Now he pretty much just moons about the house and occasionally sings an old luv song.

  9. Sounds like Madi has a little of Simone in her after all. Simone gets to sleep with Blog Mom and Daddy. Or she lets them sleep with her is more like it.

    lotsa licks, Lola

  10. That sounds like the exact same reason none of my feline critters gets to sleep with us. They have to go to bed in their room!

  11. Great post on Sunday, as always! Beth said she knows what it's like having kitties in bed. BUT they seem to end up there any way. Ozabella sleeps on a pillow above Beth's head with her own little blankie! Beth said she is certain your mommy gets a much better nights sleep than she does....

  12. I know exactly what you mean about certain cats turning to lead! Mabel does too and I have to work my way around the furry lead-ball!

I think the clanking of the handles is hilarious.

I must admit I was a little surprised that Madi doesn't get to share the bed, but I am sure she gets much better sleep without those pesky humans disturbing her at night!

    Love the quote!

  14. LOL at the solid lead! My babies split up between me & hubby (we sleep seperately--snoring!)and we each have regulars and floaters at night. Scouty has recently been sleeping with Scott and chomps his toes in the middle of the night! heh.

  16. LOL this made me giggle a few times! Madi sounds very much like Oreo; except Oreo is still allowed in bed with Mom. If he is locked out of the bedroom, he creates such a fuss that mom is forced to let him in. He's got her fairly well trained. hehe

  17. Hi Madi!

My sisfur Boo is the one who has sleepin privileges at night in the BIG bedroom. She had them before I came here. Mom tried letting me sleep in the room with her and Daddy and Boo,but I chased Boo away from her. She belongs totally to me,so after awhile and Mom losing lots of sleeps she decided that she would let me stay with her until sleepy time and then she would tuck me in outside the BIG bedroom. She doesn't like to do this because she really wants me to be inside the BIG room with her, but I fuss too much with Boo and then Boo has to sleep someplace else, so she feels like since Boo was first she gets to keep her spot...

    *sigh
I still have to come up with something that will get that other girl kicked out of there so I can claim Mom to myself.

  19. Goodness Madi! Can this really be true that you turn into a ferocious lioness at night? I, Eric, sleep on mum's pillow at night with my paw on dad's head. I do leave her a little corner of the pillow. Flynn sleeps in the crook of mum's knees.

  21. Hi Madi and Mom,
Happy sleeps on my side of the bed in the winter, but in the summer she sleeps out on the computer stool. Before the computer came she slept on Tom's lazy boy in the warm months. She also turns to lead on the bed. You almost can't move her!!

  22. Oh-oh!
I guess I'd be scared to wake Madi up!
If I am taking too much space on the bed and my mom moves me... I give her The Look. I feel offended when she does that!
