Friday Firsts....

TODAY I'M GIVING MOM 100% BLOG PRIVILEGES.

TODAY I'D LIKE TO FEATURE MY FIRST
VIDEO MADE WITH 'NIKI, WHO DON'T CLICKI,'
AND MY FIRST VIDEO UPLOADED TO
YOU TUBE.  THE VIDEO WAS MADE FROM MY DECK
I'M PRETTY SURE IT IS A JUVENILE COOPER'S HAWK
YOU'LL HEAR SONG BIRDS IN THE BACKGROUND, HE SEEMS A BIT CONFUSED BY THEM, DURING THE VIDEO
SEVERAL CARDINALS FLEW UP BEHIND HIM.
ABOUT HALF WAY THROUGH THE VIDEO HE WILL
SQUEAL, THEN JUMPED TO ANOTHER BRANCH.

QUESTION FOR ALL YOU PROFESSIONALS:
THIS VIDEO TOOK 64 MINUTES TO UPLOAD.
IS THAT ABOUT NORMAL OR WOULD IT BE CASUED BY
TO HIGH A RESOLUTION ON THE CAMERA?
THANKS
THE MOM

  2. That is a really cool video. He must be a juvenile since he seems a little confused. When the female Red-tail is in our yard you won't hear any other birds.

Are you talking about the actual upload time or You Tube's processing time? Mine usually take about 5-6 minutes start to finish and they are high resolution. As I recall the first time I set up the account and uploaded one it took a long time.

  7. Incredible...you know I love watching birds [I'm sure you do too Madi]. Anyway, I've made videos and uploaded them to You Tube. Several times it takes a short time to upload them, but then----to get You Tube to finally make them 'active' is what takes forever and eternity. All in all, an hour sounds about right. And, remember, it depends on their server too [and yours]....sometimes You Tube is very busy and will take longer, sometimes a shorter upload time. AND it really makes a difference on HOW LONG your video is too...the shorter the video the shorter upload time.

  11. Cool video, but we can't believe you let your mom make her first video with the new cam of anything other than you, Madi!!!!!!!!!! Your diva status might be slipping a bit!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mama has uploaded to YouTube for several years and it always takes a good while. After it's uploaded they have to check it out to make sure everything is kosher.

Happy Weekend, Madi and Mom. xxxxxxxxx

  13. Wow, that's in your backyard!!! We really need to move out of the city. Beautiful video and very peaceful listening the birds. I am not sure why it would take so long to upload to YouTube. Maybe there was a problem on their end?

    Your pal, Pip

  16. Oh Madi, we can't get the video to play right now but we will return.......! We wouldn't miss your You Tube premiere!
That does seem like a very long time to upload - it usually takes about five minutes but we are not sure why yours took so long.
Have you now got a You Tube channel?
We are off to try again with the video.

  17. Played fine then..................! Lovely clear picture and very peaceful with the bird song - we look forward to seeing you chase the bird away!
You are lucky to have zoom - our little camera has no zoom at all and you have to be quite close to get a decent picture!

  18. Wow...Niki takes really good moving pictures! You sure do have a pretty view. I bet you have lots of exciting things to watch every day, Madi!

  19. Oh, those bird sounds in the background. It sounds so good! The woods are silent here, and won't "noise up" until March or so.

I can't wait to see a video of you, Madi, that Niki takes.

  20. Niki takes a nice clear video. We always use You Tube because Blogger now tells us an error occurred if we load a video straight onto there. Your video did take a very long time to load. A one minute video from the camera takes 2-3 minutes to upload. Sometimes it processes at the same time as uploading and we only have to wait another 30 seconds or so for it to finish. Other times it processes after the upload has finished and takes a total of 5-6 minutes. It never takes longer than that for us. We only have a slow broadband speed (o.5mb)so it may be that you are using a very high resolution. The video is certainly very clear.

  21. We have always had problems with loading video which is why we haven't done any on our blog.
Like you mentioned it seemed to take forever. I just aborted....sigh...maybe I need to try again.
    But good resolution!

  22. Wow!! That is one big birdie!! We don't think we would mess with him!!

(Island Cats's mom here. 64 minutes to upload to YouTube is way longer than I've ever seen. I've uploaded a minute long video in about 5 minutes at the most. It must be the high resolution.)

  24. Madi!
You are very nice letting your mom post her first video with the new Niki... but sure I hoped it was going to be one of you! Ooops!
On the other hand... I loved it!
64 minutes?? Wow! Our connection is not the best but normally we can upload a video in 15-20 minutes depending on how long it is. I agree with our friends. Maybe Niki has a very high resolution!
    Kisses and hugs
