RETIREMENT Report Day 1

Today's post is about day one of Mom's
R E T I R E M E N T
Today's pictures are of me coveting admiring a
few of the things Mom brought home yesterday.
The Graduate Students and Post Docs Mom worked with
gave her a 'SURPRISE' party after lunch yesterday.
There was cake, cookies, a vase of roses, a bouquet of
Spring flowers and sunflowers, china teapot and cups and
this little ditty which is truly AMAZING and should be
an official cat toy.
It is a clear glass paperweight with kitty carvings inside.
It sits on a revolving base with colored lights....
I'm here to tell you I love it and I watched it for a long time.

I never met a balloon I didn't like....well until I met this one.
It is alive, everytime the peeps pass, it moves.  I'll be watching it from the table because, I am sure it is possessed by the evil retirement virus!!!

OK NOW FOR THE PART WHERE DAD AND I HAND OUT
DEMERITS ON MOM'S FIRST DAY OF RETIREMENT.

DEMERITS FROM MADI
1.  THEY GOT UP 20 MINUTES LATE...I THOUGHT I WOULD STARVE
2. IN SPITE OF WHAT SHE THINKS I DID SEE HER TAKE THIS PICUTRE. AND YES IT DOES MAKE MY LOVELY,
LUSCIOUS BUTT LOOK BIG BUT ONLY BECAUSE
SHE CROPPED IT, THEN ENLARGED IT!!!
Bad, bad Mom!!!

DEMERITS FROM DAD
1.  He told me Mom is really a REBEL in Mom's Clothing.
Evidently she misbehaved at Panera during breakfast.
Dad has a routine and Mom did not follow one single rule!
2.  After that fiasco, Mom joined Dad on his daily walk around the mall.  Dad has a route he likes...Mom purposedly refused to
follow his route...oh she stayed with him Dad said she was
acting pretty silly.

We'll be enrolling Mom Obedience class next week.

  2. Aw Madi, there should be a grace period before you start handing out demerits. For the first few days you know your Mom is going to run wild so you should be a little more lenient with her. MOL!

We like that paperweight with the revolving kitty carvings, can we watch with you?

    Have a great weekend,

  3. Yes but she got 30 bonus points for even getting out of bed so she's 10 ahead! :)

  4. Madi, first it's sleeping in for 20 minutes, then it's sleeping in for 2 hours, while you starve! Be careful she doesn't slide down the slippery slope of sloth (how's that for alliteration) and end up hanging around the house all day in her pjs and robe. :-P

  8. I do think that anyone should get a pass on the very first day. You and Dad need to ease her into the routine. She's probably feeling kind of skittish right now. I'm sure in a couple of weeks you'll have her in good form.

  14. Oh, I'm so late visiting, and I'm sorry Madi. Got caught up in "stuff." But, it looks to me like your Mom is going to enjoy her new life very much and that you and Dad are going to have some adjusting to do. You'll get used to the new routine, I promise!

  19. Oh Madi, I don't even know where to begin so many funny things. Yes, balloons are not to be trusted, they move about on their own and do not listen to commands!

Panera is one of my mom's favorites! I am sorry your mom misbehaved - maybe she deserves one more chance!

My mom has a few things to add - My stepfather retired a few years back and there was definitely an adjustment phase. Not for him, but for my mom. He definitely messed up her routine. His idea of a perfect day is to sit around and read newspapers, my mom's idea is to clean up the newspapers - can you see where there might be a problem. They worked it all out after a few weeks.
