STEEPLE SUNDADY #32: APEX FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH

Happy Steeple Sunday....these lovely flowers are from us
to you!!

Apex Baptist Church began in the early 1870's when residents of what was then called Log Pond met in members homes each week. In 1873, Log Pond was incorporated as Apex and the small congregation of 28 people built their first church on South Salem Street.  As the congregation grew, the need to expand resulted in a new church building which was constructed on the present site in 1912.  I expect in 1912 the corner it sits on was a sleepy country road.  However, today it is a bustling intersection  on a major artery through the city.  These pictures were taken while waiting at the stoplight of that intersection.  I'm not sure what the little compartment is on the right.  There are floodlights there and what appeared to be some plantings.
They expanded again in 1951 and 1961 to add more Sunday School rooms.
In 1987 the sanctuary pictured below was completed to replace the aging 1912 sanctuary and in 2000 their new educational facility, family life center and fellowship were completed behind the sanctuary.
The Town of Apex is expected to triple in size during the next decade.
They are certainly keeping up with the times.  They have a blog and are on FaceBook.

Mom and Dad are taking a road trip today.....but she promises to
check in with my friends when the return mid afternoon.
psssst the Par-tay starts at 9:31 am.  Don't forget the secret password and BYOFF,(bring your own Fancy Feast).
Madi, the Hostess with the mostest.

  14. What a pretty little church. It looks like it has quite a bit of green space even though it is in the city. I love those pretty pink hydrangeas.

    Hugs,
    J

PS, from Cindi. It was a great party Madi, our moms and dads need to leave every once in awhile so we can do that again.
