Thursday Theme Song: An Alabama Christmas Song

Mom and I want to thank Hootin Anni for being such a gracious hostess of

We have thoroughly enjoyed each and every Thursday of 2011 and look forward to 2012.

Mom and I are dedicating this song to our young friends, Blogger Kate and her sister Cute Kitten  their blog is The Pony Bloggers.  They are the youngest bloggers we know.
Merry Christmas and thank you for being our friend.

Today we are featuring the group ALABAMA singing
Thistlehair the Christmas Bear.  We hope you enjoy it.
The bear portraying Thistlehair is actually Belkie 2001 Collectible bear from Belk Department Store.

The city's full of manger scenes
And stores lit up in red and green
But down the road just out of town
There's more magic to be found
The countryside is all a-glow
With holly trrees and mistletoe
And in the woods there lives a Bear
Known to all as Thistlehair

Chorus:
Oh Thistlehair the Christmas bear
Spreading the good news everywhere
About Christmas time and what it means
To all the children of the world
Every little boy and girl out there
Loves Thistlehair
We have the video in the middle of our post so you can enjoy it as you look at the pictures and read the words.

He comes around this time of year
Spreading lots of Christmas cheer
The kids all love his shiny coat
And the smell of honey on his nose.
He tells them all about the star
And everything that it stands for
The birthday we all celebrate
Is still our favorite holiday
chorus repeated.
Wherever you find old Thistlebear
There'll be music in the air
He dances 'round the Christmas tree
Every single New Year's Eve
Then he and his furry friends
Gather 'round the tree again

And sing about those Angels' wings
Gifts of love that Christmas brings
Chorus repeated
Thistlehair the Christmas bear La la la la la la la
Thistlehair the Christmas bear.

STEEPLE SUNDAY #37, FIRST BAPTIST CARY, NC

Good Sunday Morning to you all.

On Tuesday, December 13, the peeps decided to take a little trip about 20 minutes West of Raleigh
to Cary, NC.  I told them not to worry I'd be fine sitting right here on the Christmas bow box and I'd be
sure no bows escaped.

Thank goodness the flashy beast went with them.  As you can see from the pictures below,
it was a beautiful December day.  After lunch at Ashworth's, they walked down Academy Street
to take some pictures of The First Baptist Church of Cary.
Mom searched Google for info on this beautiful Church.  She found several books for sale all about the history. We're sorry not to be able to tell you a lot about it except what Mom remembers.
When she was just a wee girl about 9 years old they lived in Cary and attended this church
The church celebrated it's 100 Anniversary in 1971 so it is at least 140 years old.
This is a picture of the new sancutary.
The steeple is absolutely amazing and very tall
Mom thinks it is one of the most beautiful steeples she has featured.
Below is a picture of the sanctuary where Mom and her peeps attended services.
The columns make for a very grand entrance.
The newer construction was joined to the old as if it had always been there.
