Thursday Theme Song: Kodachrome....

By Paul Simon

Mom and I thank Hootin Anni for sponsoring

Mom has been a shutter bug most of her life.   When she heard Kodachrome on the Oldies Station the other day, a flash bulb went off in her brain that this would be a great song for today.  Above each picture she'll tell you a little bit about each picture.
We have a video of Kodachrome at the end.

When I think back on all
the crap I learned in high school
It's a wonder I can think at all
And  though my lack of education
Hasn't hurt me none
I can read the writing on the wall

Picture of Photography club from Mom's high school annual

Chorus:
 Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day

This Kodak Brownie was Mom's very first camera.  She got it when she was about 10.
Yep she still has it and it is in good shape!!
Many of you may not remember the Brownie but was a great little camera

 I got a Nikon camera,
I love to take a photograph
So Mama don't take my Kodachrome away

This is Niki I Mom's first Digital purchased in 2004 for the peep's trip to
Alaska.
If you took all the girls I knew
When I was single and brought them all together for one night

Mom isn't sure whether she bought the Yashica next or
I know they'd never match my sweet imagination
The Pentax but both required film that had to be developed so she only took
pictures of special events UNTIL
Everything looks worse in black and white.
Chorus repeated.

She and Dad bought Niki I in 2005.  In January 2011 Mom
bought Niki II and I'm here to tell you she takes pictures in her sleep
She loves Niki II almost better than Ice Cream Cake
MOL
Mom still has all these cameras too.  I'm just hoping she doesn't go
crazypants on me by taking pictures with both hands.

As always, we thank you for stopping by today.
Please click on the video below if you'd like to hear
Kodachrome.

NOTE FROM MOM AS OF LAST NIGHT @8:30PM SHE COULD NOT GET READ HER COMMENTS.  WE ARE HOPING IT IS JUST A TEMPORARY BLOGGER PROBLEM.  WE HAVEN'T TRIED TO LEAVE ANY COMMENTS ON OTHER BLOGS, BUT IF YOU DON'T HEAR FROM US THAT WILL BE THE REASON.

  2. Oh my goodness, you have a Pentax ME Super too! I loved mine so much I still have it. It traveled all over GA and AK with me! This is a perfect camera song, love it!

I had my comment moderation on when you came by earlier, the comment took. So far I haven't had any problems. But, with that said, your comment box looks a little wacky so we'll see if this works.

    Hugs,
    J

  3. Sometimes blogger does odd things then just fixes itself...I hope everything will be okay again soon. My gosh you have a lot of cameras, I can see it has been a passion of yours for many years. I have a little Cannon digital that I just love, nothing really fancy but it still manages to capture the special moments!!!!

Perfect theme song for today, Madi!
I used to work at a camera store and every so often I'd
hear the sales guys singing that when it wasn't busy. :)
No wonder Mom takes such great pictures, she's been
    practicing since she was 10!
There's no escaping the paparazzi Madi! LOL

  12. That would be something if she starts taking pictures with both hands. We'd have lots and lots more pictures to enjoy if she does. Have a great day.

  13. FABULOUS post, Madi. You tell Mom I think it's wonderful she saved all those cameras, and the high school year book. I remember 1967, and what I was doing then, and I guess I'm a bit older than your Mom.
My first camera was a Brownie, too. And I forget what I had next, but I had an Olympus film camera that I used for 20 years or more. It was absolutely wonderful.
And your mom has chosen the perfect song. THE perfect song. I love love love Simon and Garfunkel. What a wonderful day on Thursday Theme Song. I'm hoping you and mom will be able to read your comments soon. Blogger can be a problem. I know there's a setting in Blogger that says "allow comments" — Madi, you haven't been sleeping on the keyboard and changed the settings, have you?

  17. This is a super post about all the cameras. Our Mom has had lots of cameras including the real ones that took pictures that had to be developed. Her Mom also had one of those three D picture camera and we still have some of the slides. Her Dad took all kinds of slides and we still have some of those.
Love the song. Madi, what have you done to the computer. Take care.

  18. We have a Canon PowerSgit SD 880 IS Digital Elph. Mom loves its ease of use but is thinking about getting one of those newer fancy ones. But we tell her one flashy beast in the house is enough:)

    Cute post.

Mom is a shutterbug too (she's never satisfied with her results but....anywhoooooose) she loves taking pictures. She has her first SLR and all the lenses. It's a great camera. Pentax. It weighs a ton! Hahahaha She loves the Nikon D3100 Dad gave her last year and says it takes the best pictures. She also has a Canon DSLR, but she loves the Nikon better. Dad gave her another point and shoot Canon (she asked for it) for Christmas and she is enjoying playing with it. She likes to take the point and shoot in her purse and the D3100 isn't a carry around camera. We love your choice of songs and you probably know that the very last roll of kodachrome was developed last year and that the ONE lab that did the developing ran out of the chemicals to do the developing and that as they say was that. I remember using Kodachrome film and it did develop some of the best color pictures. But the digital age has sadly (or gladly) taken the picture development into another direction.

  21. My first camera was a Brownie! We have never kept any of our cameras except for the last 35mm Pentax (with its assorted lenses) before we went digital. One of these days we are going to transfer all our slides to disks.

Love the song and love Paul Simon! I still have the vinyl of that album.
