THURSDAY THEME SONG: ICE CREAM

Mom and I thank Hootin Anni for being such a good hostess for

Today's song was chosen after Mom took some pics of Dad getting ice cream.  Mom Google ice cream songs and lo and behold we found there is a song to go with the famous line:
I scream, you scream,we all scream for ice cream!!
The original song (written by Howard Johnson, Billy Moll and Robert A. K. King) was first recorded on January 13, 1928.

Please click on the video below to hear this fun song...there is instrumental for about 20 seconds then the lyrics begin

This is what the Eskimos holler
In the land of ice and snow
Picture taken on Inside Passage Cruise in Alaska on the Dawn Princess

Up among the Eskimos,
There's is a college known as Ogiwawa!
You should see those college boys,
Gee, they make an awful noise
When they sing an Eskimo tra-la-la

Picture taken on land tour of Alaska at a replica of an Eskimo Village and how the made their clothes

They've got a leader (my Dad) big cheer leader
Oh what a guy,
He's got a frozen face just like an Eskimo Pie
When he says, "Come on, let's go!"
Mom is always ready  cause she is an ice cream freak
Though it's forty-five below, (picture taken in May is was about 35 above)

This is the very first picture they took in Fairbanks, Alaska. It was an ice cream store near their hotel
This is what the Eskimos holler
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream
Rah, rah rah

Tuesdays, Mondays, we all scream for sundaes
Sis-boom-bah
Bolla-bolla, sarsaparoolla
If you got chocolate, we'll take vanoola
This is what the Eskimos holler
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream, even the Dall sheep who say

BAH BAH BAH

  3. What cool pictures! I do scream for ice cream really a lot. Mommy got an ice cream maker for Christmas and it is so pawsome. I am gonna go bug her for some right now. Mommy says the song reminds her of her old records when she was little. My Mom must be pretty old. That was a fun post Madi, thanks.

  8. First off, I love the Alaskan adventure. And then....I never even KNEW there was a song such as this. Oh, ya, I've heard of I scream [and believe it or not ice cream too...lol] So dear Madi, even tho you don't like the stuff yourself, you allowed your Mom to indulge in her sweet treat and you made us all hunger for the creamy goodness.

Loved this M&M...I learned a new song.

  10. Madi, that's the first time I've ever heard the official song "we all scream for ice cream"!
I remember my Dad singing it but never knew where it came from!
Say, we saw that pretty Native Alaskan in her fine Eskimo tunic, too, on our land tour in 1998!
As well as Susan Butcher of Iditarod fame with her Musher Puppies! What a thrill for me that was!
How lucky Mom and Dad were to see and photograph the beautiful Mountain Goats while in
    Denali National Park!
I bet you will smell something very delicious when Mom comes home from grocery shopping today!
It's a Honey Baked Ham for Sunday! What time is dinner? Beam me up, Scotty! LOL

  11. Oooh, I love ice cream! Did you know a rescue trick we have for helping malnourished dogs gain weight is to feed them Blue Bell Vanilla ice cream? Ever since she found out about that, Mom won't eat it anymore. :)

  13. Lovely pictures to go along with a fun song. I didn't know there was an actual song to go along with the phrase. Ohhh, the things we learn from Google!
I love ice cream, but being lactose intolerant I don't have it very often. But every now and again Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia calls my name....and I answer.
    Happy Thursday!

  15. Nicki loves yogurt, though rarely gets offered any ice cream (our human doesn't have it often).

Wonderful pics, bet that was a great trip! Our mom's dad took her on a week-long cruise to Alaska for her 40th birthday...but that was years ago, before we even were born! She remembers the stunning landscape, though. :-)

Happy Easter weekend to you all, Madi.
