MADI MEWS & Engagement News

Just the other day, as I was watching birds contemplating Einstein's
theory on relativity, when out of nowhere a good old fashion Southern thunderstorm starting a brewin'.

It was time for me to seek shelter and safety.  I've found the best place to ride out a storm is on the steps.  WHY?
If the creek starts to rise, I can head up the stairs.
If the thunder gets too loud, I'll get under the bed
I really do not like thunder!!

WHERE DO YOU ALL GO WHEN THE HEAVENS OPEN
AND THE THUNDER STARTS TO RUMBLE?

I'M HAPPY TO REPORT THE THUNDER STOPPED JUST IN TIME FOR ME TO HOP ON OVER TO ALEX'S BLOG TO CELEBRATE HIS RECENT ENGAGEMENT TO GRACIE.
Everyone who is attending was asked to send a virtual gift
and also make a toast to the happy couple.  Let me just say
it should be an fan-tab-ulous party!!

  2. Dear, sweet, Madi, we think the stairs are a capital idea! Princeton is the weirdo of our bunch and likes to run and sit in the window (worrying the Mommy half to death). Precious goes UTB fur storms and Princess seeks out the closet in the middle of the house. (so smart!) I seek solace in my Mommy's arms, (bet you knew that, though) where else would a proper mancat be? We could sure use sum rain, please send our direction! ((HUGS)) from your main mancat, Prancer Pie.

  3. Madi, I love an engagement, how beautiful. I don't like storms at all my sweet pal. I jump in the bathtub. Mommy finds this a little crazy, but there are no windows in our upstairs bathroom and when I get in there I feel all safe for some reason. They have given in and now when a storm is coming, I find a nice soft blanket to lay on in there until its over.

  4. The steps sound like a great place to be in a storm. Its absolutely pouring with rain here. They say its going to get very heavy later this afternoon in the south east which is where we live. They say there are risks of flood - again. We are still officially in a drought with a hose pipe ban!! Simba likes to sit on the windowsill and watch storms. I like to snuggle up away from the crash bangs and just pretend its not happening :)xx

  6. We don't like those thunder-boomers either Madi. We all find places to hide, usually close to mama. The newly engaged couple make a lovely pair, we will have to pop over to congratulate them.

  7. Momma said there are storms coming into our neck of the woods today and tomorrow, Madi... so we will be sending them along your way shortly. Just sayin' you probably wanna stick around upstairs... maybe have a meal catered, your litter brought in a little closer or something...

what do we do during the storms? Well, our mom is pretty cool.... if she knows bad weather is coming she works from home so she can snuggle in with us. Our power, on occasion, goes out, so she uses it as an excuse to stay with us and keep us company. She is awfully good that way.

Milo (filling in for Mom cause she is grouchy, Dixie, too, cause Newby didn't let them sleep last night... he took most of her kingsize bed and all the covers!)

  8. We had some horribly bad T- storms last night! I did my best at protecting my parents, even though I was a bit scared myself!

  9. Oh goodie, we will see you there. It should be such a good party
We definitely go UTB during storms. They are so scary. We hate thunder. Hope all of you have a terrific week.

  10. Oooooo Jakey hates the thunder too and can usually be found under Mama's feet, in Mama's lap or just pressed up against Mama when it storms...Bilbo and I don't mind a good storm and usually just sleep through them.

  11. glad the thunder stopped. when the first hint of thunder from miles away, Baby girl heads for her condo (walkin closet) she has a bed back under the clothes for when the weather turns bad. even with no thunder, when the first drop or even drip of rain falls from the sky, she goes to the condo and stays there until it stops. the bad thing is, cats can go potty in side, dogs go outside so when it is bad weather, oh my. what to do? headed over to see the presents.

  13. We have had quite a bit of rain lately, but not much thunder. My boys are pretty cool about thunder only because they take their cues from Casper and since he is deaf he doesn't mind storms (or the vacuum cleaner) at all. Kip however is the newcomer so it will be interesting to see how he reacts to thunder!

  14. MADI... we must be TWINS... that is exactly what I (Frankie Furter) do when it storms... I wish I could get some of the RAIN though... very dry here.

  15. I just LOVE stairs. We don't have any at my house, but my grandparents have them, and whenever we visit I just run up and down and up and down and up and down! BOL! That looks like a secure place to ride out a storm, too. I don't really care about storms, but if it starts lightning TOO hard, I'll just curl up next to my momma, wherever she is!

  16. Nina has never been bothered by the thunder (especially now that she has lost most of her hearing due to old age), but the lightening flashes really bother her at night so we have to sleep with a light on. I think that is why she hates having her picture taken indoors too.

  17. You must hate thunder storm season in NC, Madi!
They must be extremely loud to frighten the Diva under the dresser!
Oddly enough we don't have them too often on the west coast, but inland
    is another story!
You are so smart to take cover!

  18. Congratulations to the couple.

Oh Madi, I think Mom's lap would be the safest place for you.

  19. Hello, my long lost sister, thunderboomers do not scare me, but if you shake a plastic bag inside, I take off for under the bed. Great idea hanging on the stairs until you know which way to run.

  20. Oh my goodness....I just KNOW you're not the scardey cat you show us to be. Glad, tho, that your storm passed by quickly. Wish it'd do something HERE.

Oh and by the way....LOVE that pic of you by the sink window. That is too purrecious.

  21. Madi, my dear, you have the best of hiding spots!

Congratulations to your friends. How exciting!

  22. Oh... poor Madi...
Here, Nelson hides wherever we are; Barto, Aimee and Luan go down the bed; Ebony is looking to rain on the window.
    Kisses dear!

  23. I, Grayce, squeeze behind the commode in Mommy's bathroom. It's the safest spot in the house. Really!

  24. Congrats and best wishes to the special couple!

We had thunder boomers here early this morning. Phantom is the only one who is really bothered by storms. But it is more the coming of the storm than the actual storm itself. Ciara is a little bit afraid but just goes to her crate. Thunder and Lightning - are you surprised - they love to be out in that storm, but Mom says no way.

Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning

All my brothers and sister hide anywhere when the thunderbooms start.
It really doesn't bother me unless they are right on top of our house.
One day I was sitting in Mom's lap while she was on the porch and we were watching it rain.
    All of a sudden

    --BOOM--

I don't know who moved faster me or her to get inside from the porch.

  26. We don't like the loud boomers either, Madi! We usually head UTB (under the bed)!

  27. We had a thunderstorm this afternoon and lost power for a while.I, Flynn hide under the duvet. Eric sits in the window and watches the flashes. I think he must be deaf because he doesn't take any notice of the loud boomies either.

  28. Glad to know the thundestom is away from you now!
Me?? I almost never know when it happens!
    Take care

  29. Believe it or not, I don't mind storms - more like I don't notice storms. Here's a funny story ...a couple summers ago we had a really bad storm. There was a pause in the rain, but the thunder, lightening and wind were still crazy. My papa took me out for a quick pee and guess what happened a tree cracked from the wind, snapped, split and hit the fence. It literally sounded like a bomb went off. My mom ran out the back door to see what happened. It narrowly missed me, but I didn't even really notice ...just kept doing my business. I have had my hearing checked and it is fine - I just don't stress over storms.

    Your pal, Pip
