Thursday Theme Song: When Irish Eyes are Smiling

TOP OF THE MORNING TO YOU ALL
Mom and I thank Hootin' Anni for sponsoring

Today's song, When (Green) Irish Eyes are Smiling,  is in  honor of
St. Patrick's Day
Please click on the below video to hear this beautiful song while you look at our pictures and read the lyrics.
We found two different sets of lyrics.
The first video matches the lyrics we have.
Both versions are very pretty!!

There is a tear in your eye,
And I'm wondering why
For it never should be there atll
With such pow'r in your smile
Sure a stone you'd beguile
So there's never a teardrop should fall
when your sweet lilting laughter's like some fairy song
And your eye twinkle bright as can be
You should laugh all the while and all the other times smile
And now smile a smile for me...

When (Green) Irish eyes are smiling
Sure 'tis like the morn in Spring
In the lilt of your laughter
You can hear angels sing
 When Irish hearts are happy
all the world seems bright and gay
And when Irish eyes are smiling Sure, they steal your heart away.

For your smile is a part of the love in your heart
And it makes even the sunshine more bright
Like the linnet's sweet song.
Crooning all the day long
Comes your laughter and light
For the springtime of life is the sweetest of all
There is ne'er a real care or regret;
And while springtime is ours
Throughout all of youth's hours
Let us smile each chance we get

When (Green) Irish eyes are smiling
Sure 'tis like the morn in spring
In the lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing
When Irish hearts are happy
All the world seems bright and gay
And when Irish eyes are smiling
Sure they steal your heart away

This song was written by Chauncey Olcott, and George Graff, Jr.
Set to music by Enerst Ball, for Mr. Olcott's production of The Isle O'Dreams.
The music was published in 1912
Mr. Olcott was born in Buffalo, NY
Mr. Ball was also born in America but was devoted to Ireland.

Weird Word Wednesday

The other day while Mom was helping me visit my friend's blogs she came across one 'word verification' that she thought was pretty funny.
UNDAY
Normally these words are just letters; however,
I ponder the deeper meaning of the word as a napped in my sun puddle while Mom took a walk around our 'hood with the flashy beast.  When she returned, the meaning came to me.

Unday: is the day of the week when something happens that you do not want to remember.

As in, the day she comes home talking about a
handsome orange and white cat she meet
OR
This most handsome and friendly dog,Cody she
meets every day.   All I hear is that he runs to greet her and sits quietly by her side while she rubs he most gorgeous furs and he never barks or jumps.  Which is a good thing because when he is standing his head is even with Mom's elbow.

Mom, thinks Cody is part black Lab
and part Landseer Newfie.  They are black with white patches.
So let me end by saying I hope you don't have any
Unday's in your future because quite frankly they are

My nip filled rodent is still behaving!!

I'm a happy girl!! I love tissue paper and boxes!!
My peeps surprised me by replacing some of my
slimy, nasty, slobber covered old catnip toys with new ones.
A catnip fish, a catnip bag and catnip candy bar.

TODAY I'M TEN YES 10!!!

Yes it is true, I,  Madison the Diva Island Princess Cat,
am double nickles, or as Dad likes to say, I've entered my double digit years.
I would like to thank Squirrel Queen, Mom to my girl pal
Miss Cindi Lou, The Kitty Krew for this birthday button
FIRST THINGS FIRST...FOODABLES
FELINE BUFFET: Fancy Feast, Whiskas, Temptations or Natural Sensations, all ready to eat.
K9 BUFFET: BURGERS, PORK CHOPS, CHICKEN.
DAD HAS AGREED TO COOK YOUR MEAT TO YOUR
LIKING. BUTTER BEANS  'CAUSE SOME OF MY GIRLFRIENDS ARE WATCHING THEIR WAIST LINE.

I'm happy to report my good buddy Remington is on the mend after his terrible tummy ache yesterday.  I asked Mom to have some tummy friendly items for him. Rem have some Cherrios for  strength and Greek Yogurt to coat your tummy.

Grab a party hat, find a comfy spot.  This is My Life, produced and narrated by Mom, mainly because I don't remember a lot of things from the early years.
In  late 2001 Mom, Dad and my Uncle G all decided it was time for them to get a new forever kitty. They all had kitties who had  traveled to the Bridge several years before. On May 11, 2002, which happened to be the Saturday before Mother's day, they traveled together to look for that special kitty. Lo and behold they happened upon a cage labeled Kitty L and M who were litter mates. Born on March 11, 2002.
OMC were we happy when we were selected.
Below is a picture taken of me, Madi, and Lucy @ 2 months old
in Uncle G's living room.

As you can see from this picture, taken on May 31, 2002
Mom put me to work folding laundry

Which turned out to be a very exhausting chore.

At 3 months of age, I demanded a proper bed, royal blue, for the Diva I was about to become
Often I had to take charge of my foodables by pointing out
exactly what my taste buds required and not a bit shy about stating my likes and dislikes.
Caption: What do you mean I'm not supposed to be in the fridge?
Here I am at 6.5 months old and have nearly doubled in size
and Cat-i-tude. I've been a counter surfer from day one!
This is our old kitchen w/o much counter space but that didn't matter to me. It was my job to snoopervise all food prep. Mom just had to move to the other side of the sink to slice, dice and chop.

Fast forward...I'm  9 months old.  I'm trying without much success, to get my Aunt Cali, my human sister's kitty, to acknowledge my cute fact of 100.   By the time I arrived  took over the house, Dowager Cali was dealing with lots of health issues.  She didn't live with us but she spent lots of weekends with us. She liked me ok as long as I didn't get in her face or try to critique her use of  the litter box.   I was curious about her methods!! MOL
Another picture of our old kitchen (I was 5 years old)...which I actually thought the best kitchen ever.  I could rocket from the counter up to the tops of the cabinets.  All the cabinets connected around the kitchen. I loved walking around them.  It was a built in cat walk....But woe with me in 2006  the peeps decided to have the the entire kitchen demolished. It wasn't all bad though I stayed with my grandpeeps for a month.  Mom said I was very confused when I jumped on the counter only to find the new cabinets were different heights and too high.

Mom prepared this collage of some of her favorite pictures since we've been blogging 3 years ago.
Last but not least, please remember to get your party treat bag labelled, Feline/K9.  If you cannot read, the felines get one with a red ribbon, K9s one with an orange ribbon.  If you don't yet know your colors, well you'll just have to sniff until something appeals to you.
MOL

Thank you all for being my friend, for welcoming us into your
feline and K9 hearts.  You are all like family and we love you lots.
Hugs
Madi and Mom
