A Garden for Remington

Many of you were blogging friends of Remington,
the gentle Newfie.  If you did not know Remington
Click here to visit his blog.  Beth is no longer posting to his blog so Mom volunteered to prepare a post about his
Garden.

Rem entertained us daily.
Remington and his Beth were FRIENDS to many.
Remington was only 4 years old when he made his trip to the Rainbow Bridge.   He had been blogging for his entire life.
A handful of Rem's furiends put their heads together
to come up with a way to honor Rem and let Beth and
Mike know how much Rem meant to us.

January 9, 2009-March 4, 2013

Our original plan was to plant a tree for Remington with the donations from his friends......
BUT lo and behold Beth and Mike
planted a Garden on the side of their house.
This was Remington's favorite spot to play.
To quote Beth,
"Each year and with each blossom we will think of him...this side of the house was also Remington's favorite place to play catch."
THANK YOU
MY FRIENDS."
The garden contains 5 butterfly bushes, 2 yellow rose bushes,
1 Rose of Sharon, 1 Hardy Hibiscus, 2 red, 2 yellow climbing rose bushes (at the center trellis) and to the left of the trellis many day lilies

Remington wore many hats....
and promoted many causes.  His favorite was
READING!!!!!
We had enough donations to also
buy books to be donated to a local
school in Honor of Remington.
Beth will take the books to the
school this fall.

The books selected  won a book award named after
Dr. Seuss (The Geisel Award) which evidently started in 2006
Click on the link below to read about the books and the award

Remington, *My Friend,
(*Rem's favorite expression)
you will never be forgotten...you touched the hearts
of everyone who knew you.

The books will help many children as they learn to read.
We think of Remington often especially when there is a full moon or we see his favorite football teams play. Our sweet friend is very much missed.

  36. What a beautiful tribute to our dear, dear friend and Leo's brother. Remington was such an integral part of our day with his blogging, sense of humor, and love of football, snow, and life. He will be missed, yet remembered throughout the year as his garden grows and changes with the seasons. All our love to Mike, Beth, and their newest addition, Gray.

  37. There could not be a more extraordinary way to memorialize Rem than by that garden. Each year it will grow and mature and leave a mark on his pawrents heart. He will never be forgotten but will live on through each thing that thrives in his garden and help ease the loss by his pawrents tending to it each season. A very special spot for a very special dog.

  40. Oh that is so wonderful to have a garden for Remington. That is just the best. Sorry we are so late but of course we have another really sick cat and had to rush her to the vet. She had a very high temp and is having trouble breathing but she had lots of shots and fluids.
We hope you have a good evening.

  44. Dear Madi & Mom,

What a wonderful tribute to Remington! The garden is absolutely beautiful, and the books being donated to the local school will bring smiles to the faces of many children - just as Remington brought smiles to our faces each day with his blog.

I'm positive that Remington is a very happy puppy tonight as he is watching over all this from the Rainbow Bridge.

    Great job, everyone!

  47. That is such a beautiful tribute to my love. It made Mommy cry but in a good way. Beth and Mike have a new baby Newfie named Grayson. He is so sweet looking and looks very much like Remington. I know Remington sent him to them, so they wouldn't miss him so much. Sunday is a special "super" moon and I will be doing a post for my Sweety since I know he is part of what makes it special

  50. I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
