Today's interview features my
Resident wrestlers:
NICKI AND DERRY
very handsome man cats from Canada
Did you know that mayors in Canada are called
YOUR WORSHIP?
OMCs I had no clue. Mom says my head is going to
swell big time?
1. Please introduce yourself(selves), tell us your age and a very special trait.
Nicki: I'm Nicki, I'm 6 years and 7 months old now, and I excel at "helping" around the house. I open closet and bureau drawers and reorganzie the human's clothing, I climb up and inspect the basement plumbing pipes (unfinished basement) and I excel at decluttering (by pushing objects off tables and often breaking them).
Derry: I'm Derry, I'll be 6 on June 24th, and my special trait is catching moths and other flying insects, and looking adorable.
2. If you had and alter ego, who would you like to be and why.
Nicki and Derry: Hmmm, we think we're purrfect just as we are!
MADI HERE:
OH BOYS I AGREE YOU ARE PURRFECTION IN MOTION!!!
3. What do you like best/least about where you live
Nicki and Derry: We love having our human servant at our beck and call, we love our tiny enclosed garden because we can hang out there all summer, but OMC, we really don't like winters! They last forever and are desperately cold and miserable.
4. Who are some peeps/furiends you'd like to meet and why.
Nicki and Derry: That's tough! We've made a lot of wonderful fur friends over our several years around the CB and we don't think we could decide. Though we think it would be pawsome to visit where we could run through the fields and explore!
5. If you could give one piece of random advice what would it be?
Nicki: If you're looking for "adventure" (read mischief), don't let your human know by always meowing "your fool head off" (her words) first.
Derry: Look as adorable as possible and make tiny meows. You can get away with anything!
6. What do you do for fun:
Nicki: Help around the house (see #1). Hang out in our garden. Play with Mr. Stick (i.e. any long stick or stick end of a wand toy).
Derry: Hang out in our garden. Catch moths and butterflies and even, sometimes, a damselfly (crunchy goodness!) Play with a long feathered wand toy or with the dot (laser light)!
7. What is the first thing you do each morning?
Nicki: I make sure the human is up by 4:15AM (often earlier), 365 days a year (no exaggeration), by getting up close to her and singing to her in dulcet tones (i.e. screaming as loudly as possible). Then we get our measly 1TBSP of kibble and then get to go out into our garden!
Derry: I help Nicki get the human up by making pitiful meowing sounds that activate her maternal/protective reflex. The truth is, Nicki's screaming only annoys her, but she can't resist my plaintive meows! And then I get to have my 1 TBSP of kibble and get to go out.
8. What is the first thing you notice about a new furiend?
Nicki & Derry: On the other side of our fence it would be their smell. In cyber space, it's definitely their personality!
9. Tell us how you came to live in your family and how you got your name.
Nicki and Derry: We both were adopted, at different times, from the Gananoque Humane Society via a now-closed pet store that had a satellite adoption centre for the shelter.
Nicki adds: I was adopted on April 12, 2007. The human had been in some time prior to that, took one look at me and said, "There's Nicki." She knew she would adopt a "Nicki" at some point, and when she saw me, knew I was it! I had an eye infection, though, and so had to wait a week or two before I could go to my forever home.
Derry adds: I was adopted on December 21, 2007. She had gone on a lunch hour to check out the adoptable cats, looking for another young cat as a companion to Nicki, and I was the one who climbed up into her lap for attention and cuddles. Sucker!!! As for my name, the human was trying to think of names ending with a long "e" sound and for some reason Derry came to mind and wouldn't be dismissed. It's Irish, of course, and she finds it odd that it ever popped into her head in the first place, since she has an aversion to things Irish. (She claims it must be due to bad past life experience.)
10. What is your absolute favorite food?
Nicki: Ummm, Temptations. And also kibble. And stinky goodness. And yogurt. And ham.
Derry: Temptations. Kibble. One brand/flavour of stinky goodness if you sprinkle enough FortiFlora on it.
Bonus:
Derry and Nicki as your title states you are the resident wrestlers. Please tell us which one of you is most likely to start a wrestling match and what it takes to get your ready to rumble!! Also do you consider yourselves feather weight wrestlers?
Nicki and Derry: We actually both take turns starting the wrestling matches, and we're both pretty well matched. It does take a lot of limbering up, though, with careful stretching, some cardio (zoomies around the house or yard first), and of course lots and lots (and lots) of sleep in between matches. As for considering ourselves "featherweight" wrestlers...er....well....middleweight (our human says heavyweight!) might be more applicable.
Thank you, Your Worship (an honourific prefix for mayors in most Commonwealth countries), for including us in your cabinet. We feel privileged to be the Resident Wrestlers, and looking forward to serving you to the best of our abilities!
Derry and Nicki we thank you for excellent interview!!!
