TALL TALE TUESDAY

Last Thursday Hailey and Zaphod's Lady had a post about
about challenging pets and figuring out just what they need.  Mom said it brought back memories
ME trying to TRAIN my PEEPS, which by the way is a work in progress.
Mom told this tall tale on me way back in 2009.  She thought it was time to
poke fun at me again with pictures.  She did not have a digital camera in 2002 so there are no actual pictures...

Dear Hailey's Lady...it is Madi's lady here to say bravo for this post and for your solution!!

Madi is our second cat...and oh dear me she is 360 degrees different from Milky-Way our first cat. Madi should thank her lucky stars MW came first 'cause he paved the feline road to our hearts in gold.  Every piece of furniture in this house was in the same place when MW lived here but he never ever had lofty thoughts.

I have heard for years cats are either tree
dwellers (like high places) and she is a champion jumper

or bush dwellers (like being on the ground).
Madi has a split personality she likes both.

Within 4 months of living here, 5 lb Madi, figured out she could jump on the back of the white chair (below) by the fireplace, jump over the floor lamp, onto the mantel without disturbing anything on the mantel.
FYI: the GRITS is an acronym
Girls Raised In The South...a very dear friend gave it to me.
Thank you CAT!

She sashayed to the other end of the mantel where she jumped up on top of the 8' secretary.  She was once again found chewing on the finial.
We were pretty sure she was a beaver and a mountain goat in a kitten body.
To solve that we had to move the chair to the middle of the room.

Next she jumped from the banisters of our stairs to the top of the Grandfather clock...where she was found chewing on that finial.
Her launching point was where the wicker step basket sits.
Well solving this was harder we could not move the clock and she would not stop jumping up there so we covered it with a quilt which was secured with duct tape.
The clocked stayed wrapped in the quilt for several months.

FINALLY IT DAWNED ON ME SHE NEEDED A HIGH CAT TREE (MW NEVER HAD ONE).
Madi can easily jump from the corner of the dining room table
to the perch and does it often

THANKFULLY NO MORE HIGH WIRE ACTS FOR HER.
YES SHE WAS A CHALLENGE FROM DAY ONE.
Madi is a perpetual teenage girl nothing is ever exactly like she wants it and she is quite verbal. Nearly 12 years later she SHE KEEPS US LAUGHING, HAS THE BEST PURR IN THE WORLD and we LOVE HER DEARLY. We, too, had to learn not to compare Madi with MW and like children all pets are different. Our first pet was a mighty mini Dachshund, Toto. You know about Doxies...stubborn, serious attitude and strong willed. We often say Madi is part Doxie.   I wanted to say BRAVO to you for loving Hailey for who she is.

  7. We are pretty much bush dwellers but that's because we don't have a lot of high places to get up on. Except the cat trees and the upper shelves of the catio. :)

Glad you got your cat tree, Madi!

  8. LOL Madi we agree a finial fixation indeed. I chewed the corner of peeps best mahogany cabinet once and she was none too pleased. LOL at least you have The Tower Of Power now. Have a terrific Tuesday.

  20. Hi Madi! Have you recovered from the Moon adventure? I hope so....I'm still napping to catch up from all the parties. Looks like you like to try and fly leaping through the air? I used to do that when I was younger but no more of that for me.....all four paws on the ground these days!

    Hugs, Sammy

  21. to funny, maybe there is a mountain lion in her ancestry.... Bob had five cats and he said they were all different, one even thought it was a dog. I am just thankful our dogs can't leap like Madi, think 50 pounds not 5... yikes.
our first dog Max, chewed all the handles off my antique dresser. at least they could be replaced, your finials could not

  22. At what age did Madi slow down? Or is she still jumping up to high places?! LOL

  23. I like your spectacular jumping photos, Madi. That you can jumpf throught the whole room without touching or damaging things is one of the feline secrets, I think. If I would do that we probably would need a new crib. Have a super tuesday!

  24. you sure are graceful. Mummy's old cat Figaro used to climb on the mantlepiece and knock everything over. The clock that lived on there never worked again and grampy never forgave him lol

  25. Madi you are a fabulous feline. Our Annabelle is basically a ground dweller, which is in stark contrast to the rest of the tribe which are tree climbers! YOU do spectacular jumps!

  26. Madi, you are writing your own chapters and that is purrfect!

  28. Madi you are handful! And you have blown the theory that cats grow out of the kitten-ish stage and settle down to cat napping on laps and slow down!

  37. What a great post!!! Guess Madi knows how to keep you on your toes. Mom says that when she first got Dakota, our first Siberian, she thought she would go nuts with her antics. Guess what was the best solution - getting Phantom:)

  38. Lady says she is hopeful that once we come up with all the solutions she will look back and laugh! We are glad you are still keeping your people on their toes.

  39. Madi, we're high flyers around here. Though you'd think with our nice window seat we'd be bush dwellers.

  41. I like that step basket. A neat contraption.

I think Putter Jean is a tree dweller. She gets mad if you bother her when she's napping.
