DATE DAY (finally)

I would like to thank SARGE for hosting this most wonderful day!!!

I was so excited when I read about it and I knew exactly who I wanted to invite....and where we were going.
TA DA our official Date Day Photo
I invited Raz to attend my Dad's special birthday outing
on April 26, 2014.  It was an all day affair in the great out of doors so Raz and I grabbed our straw hats.

OMCs when we arrived there was an official welcome sign.
Just to give you a little back ground....my Dad loves
trains of all shapes and sizes.  The last weekend of April every year there is a Live Steam event in Apex, NC.    I asked Dad to give me a short description of the trains and event.  I had to specify short cause he is a train brain and can talk about them non-stop.
 He said,
"The track gauge is
7 1/2", the large steam engines can weigh ~800 to 1000 lbs. As you can see, they are heavy enough for several adults to ride. The engines can be either steam or diesel. The tracks run through several scale miles of scenic wooded property."

Here are a few more pictures of folks on  the trains

I had never been to this event but I just knew Raz would love it 'cause all boys love trains!!  As soon as we arrived,
we were invited to take a ride on a steam engine...
He was so excited he got to wear an Engineer's hat.
OMCs Raz do you see all that steam?
and look at all the pretty trees and even the squirrels are OK.
As soon as we hopped off this train, we boarded another one
I was a little worried I'd fall of the cushion but
Raz was ready to leap to my rescue

My sweet Dad sat in the caboose just in case we had questions
While we were riding the rails, I asked mom to prepare a picnic for us.  Kudos to her did a bang up job too.  She even reserved a
special place just for us.

Jumpin' Catfish after our picnic Raz took
me on a romantic row boat ride around the
pond.  We dubbed the boat
The Raz-Ma-Taz
We ended our purrfect DATE cooling it in the shade
doing a little bird watching.  I told Raz those birds were lucky
we were full from out picnic otherwise they would have been
lunch!

After a long and fun day, we headed back to my house for
Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Cake

I would like to thank Raz for being such a fun Date!!!
Hugs
YOUR GAL MADI

Mom and I give Raz's mom Ms. Sharon a standing ovation

  21. That's the best train I ever saw! And your dad looked really funny while riding in the caboose. I'm glad you just had your picnic as you saw the birds, but there is always a little room in our stomachs huh? My moms greatest dream is to ride with a train though the US ( not via car, she is a traffic block) , as my dad saw your train, he said he will buy her a ticket for this train immediately :o)
