Wordless Wednesday and Milkman the rest of the story

I spy a white breasted nuthatch!!

Also wake the town and tell all the people

This was going to be wordless until yesterday when everyone asked why mom was chasing the milkman...when she was a child.  This was way back in the dark ages when milk was delivered to your home.  The milkman left it in a special cooler on the porch.  You were supposed to leave your empty glass bottles by the cooler. Mom spent the night with her gma..
the next morning gma remembered she forgot to put the two empties on the porch.  The milkman just a few houses down...gma told Mom to take the to the milkman BUT
DO NOT RUN.
MOM RAN!!

  1. Oh, that makes sense! We couldn't figure out how your mom could get such a nasty scar! I bet the milkman told that story over and over.

  4. Howdy Madi, our mum too remembers when the milkman came to each house, although he left the milk in bottles. Our angel Poppa helped the milkman when he was 12 and would get up at 4.00 am, do the milk run with the milkman and then go to school. Mum says thanks for the memories :-)

  10. I guessed it ... "do not run" is the start signal for nearly all kids to run like the wind... probably that kids have to wait till ears will grow on them :o) I remember the milkman, once we found a grasshopper in our bottle... it was still alive as we opened the milk bottle.... we never solved that miracle lol

  11. okay, I'm glad she wasn't trying to tackle him to take milk away from him...hehehehe

Putter Jean would. That cat can smell milk the second I walk into a room with a glass. It's on then. I have to go back to the kitchen and give her a little in a bowl so I can drink mine.

  12. My dad made a special container for the milk bottles so that when they were delivered the birds would not peck into the silver tops and siphon off all the cream...
    How things change.
    Cheers,
    Gail.

  17. Nice Bird TV, Madi!

Mom too remembers those days of the milkman deliveries and the dream at the top of the bottles. Does your Mom remember coffee cans with the key to open them and the very sharp edge it left on the can? Our MOm has a scar on her nose from when a neigbor boy got tire of being "It" in a game of tag and threw that can at Mom - it clipped her right across the center of her nose:(
