TUESDAY (funny) Tale: Landscaping

Let me set the stage for this tale...
The week of 10/12/15 a major, multi phase, landscaping project started here at  my house.
Phase 1: We have some very talented stone mason creating
a Great Wall of Hedgemoor on each side of our driveway..
They had to hand dig trenches on a very hot day.
May I draw your attention to these expertly dug
by hand trenches.  My peeps have been quite impressed with their digging and stone mason skills

This is the longest of the two walls it was about 1/2 finished

Ok so the scene is set..you know it was hard and hot work the first day digging those expert holes....SO now for the rest of the FUNNY story...

Mom has a group of 4 very good friends
(from Connecticut,  Oregon, Florida and Georgia) she speaks to every day via email. She was telling them about how hot it was the day they were digging.
Mom casually wrote in an email,
"it was so hot I took them a pitcher of ice water, cups
and some Nabs....."
Mom said it was like she was speaking in tongues... none of her friends knew what Nabs were.

The friends started a most hilarious string of emails..... one wrote what are Nabs, another wrote my husband Googled Nabs, another  friend said thank your hubby for the research, I was about to do the same. I had no idea what Nabs were either.

Pictured below you will find me posing with Nabs...they are a staple in our house. They come on round and square and Mom particularly likes the Nekot Nabs they are graham cracker with peanut butter. I'm told Milky-Way, the one who came before me, loved to lick peanut butter residue from the Nab wrapper.

If you love Nabs, raise your paw!
Here is what Google said:
Many snack cracker products manufactured by Lance are commonly referred to as "Nabs", a genericized trademark name for Nabisco snack crackers. The term originated in 1924 when the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) introduced a snack, put in a 5-cent sealed packet called "Peanut Sandwich Packet".
Please tell us in the comments what you call these delish snacks.

Below is a photo of the right side of the
Great Wall of Hedgemoor

There was a Bobcat in our yard digging too leveling out the uneven ground so that the new trees/plants had a nice home.

This week is a busy week with special posts for Shelter Treats with Dory and Halloween Costume Contest with Sammy.
Next week we'll show you

more on the landscaping project...which by the
way is finished NOW!!!

  1. Madi, my Mommy loves those snacks especially the exact one your Mom is holding but she doesn't have any special name for them. She says they are gone so fast there is no time to name them. That wall is pretty cool, I bet it would be fun to climb on.

    Ziggy your brudder Out!!

  12. your yard will be beautiful, i love the stones and that is a really great job digging that hole... i have never heard these crackers called Nabs.. we just called them peanut butter crackers or cheese crackers. about a month ago Bob and I were talking about things we could buy with a nickel and dime way back when and the subject of these crackers came up. neither of us could remember the last time we had one. the next day i saw FAKE crackers, think great value brand and bought them. they were horrible. next week i bought the real ones and we had chocolate milk and pb crackers each afternoon for our snack.... you can count us as lovers of Nabs now that we know what Nabs is
