MONDAY MEWS: Moisture is not your friend

I hear you all saying oh no not another photo of Madi
in her red room sun puddle; however, dear ones these next two photos are very impawtant...they were taken on Friday, February 5.
It was the first time my red room sun puddle had been out in
3 days.  It started raining here on Wednesday, February 3
and it was windy and it rained continuously and hard until
Friday morning.
The sun came out about 9 am.and boy were my peeps happy.

because just before bed time Dad discovered....
Dad could tell by the location that it was probably the flashing around the chimney.  Thursday morning at 7 am Mom sent an email to, Matt, the builder who does all the work around our house.
She asked him if he could send his roofers over as soon as it quit raining.  Matt said absolutely and  hoped to do Thursday but it kept raining.  Thankfully no water got in the house but the ceiling is a mess.  The roofers were here bright an early on Friday for sure it was the flashing.  The roof is 15 years old and still in excellent condition but the flashing needed new caulking around it and some of the roofing nails on the flashing had rusted so bad the flashing was not secure.
So friends I'm happy to say the leak is gone but alas there is work to be done on the
ceiling.  And it will be messy for sure and the wall will have to be repaired cause it got bubbles in it.
You know what that means..........
Smelly introoders in my house, and once
again I'll be sequestered in my blog office for
at least furever.  There is sure to be photos
of the repairs...but probably not until March or so because it has to dry really good and the peeps are going have some painting done then too.

CONGRATS TO THE BRONCOS

The Broncos bucked the Panthers right out of the stadium.  Dad was torn he really really likes Peyton Manning but felt like he needed to support the home team.  So in reality we would have been happy with either team winning.

  2. Crikey Madi ..... your roof sprung a leak???? So did ours. In four rooms. How bad is that. Mum had to put towels down. We don't have to get it fixed because Dad is a builder and he said it's not really a problem as it only happened because the rain was out of control. We had a foot of rain in a very short time. Or is it just that Dad is lazy????

Deary me - a damp patch appeared here too... but underneath my window, which is a tad worrying - but it could be to do with the horizontal action or the rain round here recently. Sigh..... Just think though Madi - a fresh lick of paint could mean a fresh bright red!!! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

  15. So sorry your house had a leak which requires intruders to fix it, Madi!
Maybe when Matt comes back he can do it quickly.

  17. OMC Madi....we had the same kind of problem last week! We had a palm tree frond fall on our roof and it put a hole in it a couple of years ago....it was patched but now it opened up again. Unfortunately WE had a lot of ceiling damage and there will not only be introoders IN the house but there will be a new roof too.....Jail time for us :(

  28. Oh, no! Madi, we had two VERY similar things happen with our ceilings! One was a leak around some vent up on the roof. A guy who we like very much (he smells of kit-cats!) came and had to replace part of the ceiling - after some guys went up and did the BANG BANG BANG on our roof. Mom then painted the ceiling. We heard lots of complaints about going up and down the ladder 87 million times. THEN our door leaked somehow and it made the ceiling in the downstairs all messed up, so he who smells of kit-cats came back and fixed the door (he's the one who put it in!) and the downstairs ceiling. And then, because he felt like it was his fault to begin with, he painted the ceiling for free so Mom wouldn't have to! And he did the other repairs for free, too. I'll bet his kit-cats told him to, don't you?
We hope your repairs go well!
    Yours sincerely,
    Margaret Thatcher

  29. Oh no, rain is bad enough but when it makes problems INSIDE too, that is not good. Ceiling stains are such a pain. We hope the cleanup goes smoothly and quickly for your sake, Madi.

  31. That leak caused a lot of damage. I am sorry you have to deal with more intruders now.

  32. Oh no! We know you don't want introoders in your house, Madi...but it's best you get that fixed. You don't wanna be doing the backstroke in your house. ;)

  33. Oh Madi we feel your pain... we have to have foundation work done the end of February. I am looking for a place to stay the whole time the introoders are here because I don't do well with strangers working in the house. I can't get them out soon enough. I am going to leave CH to deal with it!
