Long story short..our house faces North. We only have one window that gets several hours of sun and also has a table near by to sit a plant. This is our only house plant...

In October of 2014, mom bought an African Violet aka Saintpaulias. It was in full bloom and after the blooms died
it continued to grow new leaves so we were hopeful for more blooms October 2015. It is in a special violet pot so you cannot
love it (water it) too much and mom gave it violet food BUT
NOPE, Nada we had zilch no blooms
THEN in late March 2016 there was rejoicing in the house.
Mom spotted blooms...this is a close up of the first 3 bloooms.
I don't think you can see it here but the flowers look like
they have glitter on them. So pretty especially with the sun on them.
This is the last photo mom took of it. There are 6 flowers visible and one more about to open.

My Mom loves African violets....she used to collect them in fact. Did you know there are miniature African violets? Tiny little things - anyway, yours looks VERY healthy and I'm sure there will be more flowers to come! Beautiful!

Our mom has never had good luck with African Violets. The flowers are just gorgeous and the leaves are so green and beautiful!

I love the color. I'm so glad it bloomed for you. I don't have any luck with house plants and with the 8 foot wide porch around our whole house, the rooms are really dark.

How nice to see your beautiful African Violets! We have a tree (actually 2 of them) in our yard and when we see them we think of you and your mom. They are Rose Buds. BUTT we forgot why we think of yous, we just do!

Your African Violet is very pretty. They often take longer to bloom or even miss their second year completely because they are originally forced on for sale.

ReplyDeleteCrikey Madi ... How good is that! Mum loves African violets. She says she knows they don't need much water but she mist sprays her with a water spray bottle. They like a bit of humidity. Mums flower a lot. That's a very pretty one. Oh and I have a question Madi that you may be able to help me with. I want to send my picture for the BAR and I know I can get the address from the Christmas card exchange list BUT .... where do I find that list? Sorry Madi ... I guess I should know but it's completely escaped me.
