Tuesday Tale: Inspecting the new Tree

WE have a new tree this year.  It is smaller (7' and not as wide, the old one was 8')
This one is what mom calls Senior Citizen Friendly.
Not heavy, easy to assemble and it was actually fun.
I, of course, am the Chief Inspector and I take my job seriously

Christmas Tree 2017

Christmas tree in 2015
please note it is almost reaching our ceiling which is 9' tall!
Mom has always love the trumpeting Angel Tree topper.
Well lo and behold the Angel is too heavy for the new tree.
Please scrollllllllllll all the way to the bottom to see what our tree topper is this year

Christmas Tree 2015

2017 Tree Topper for our new tree.
Friends don't shot the messenger.  I'm just as outraged as you all
It is a dag blame tree rat...yes a squirrel, Hallmark ornament

perched on top of a Chocolate Chip Cookie.  He is grinning like a 'possum and holding
a nut..100% pleased a punch with his squirrelY self.

Whyyyyyyyyyy why...........of all the ornaments did she do this?
Well I'll tell you.  The ornament has a clip on the bottom that fits very securely on the top.

  1. That is a nice tree, even with the silly squirrel topper! My human got a new tree this year... actually it is a foot bigger than the one we had before. It's 7-1/2 feet. She wanted more room for all the ornaments.

  2. I would love to eat that cookie on the top (including the guy with the nut) .... the mama said we will put up our tree at the last minute, because someone here has no pee-havior... probably my dad ;O)))

  3. Do you need us to come over and knock down that tree to chase away that squirel. Just let us know.

  4. We have that very same squirrel on the cookie ornament! Brian's mom collected the Hallmark ornaments and gave them to us a few years ago.

P.S.: I smiled when I read your comment yesterday "3 seniors living and loving one day at a time"

  5. Your tree looks beautiful, Madi - they all do over the years. Mom understands about downsizing. We had to do that too or there would be no room for us☺

  6. That tree is gorgeous. We think the topper is just the best. It is an original one and I bet no one else will have one. Have a super day.

  7. The Christmas Chair made your blog, Madi! All the trees look beautiful. This year's tree looks great and why not a tree rat? Perfect! Our tree is still naked. I see from the pictures that you were quite a bit of help! Maybe you could get our tree dressed!

  11. Madi do you like the Christmas tree? So you climb it? So you hide inside it? I steal the baubles off the lower branches and play with them, I usually get caught with gitter on my nose! Max is yet to get into tree trouble but this is his first Christmas so there is still plenty of time for mischievous behaviour! Love and licks from your furiends Frank and Max XxxxxxX

  12. Very pretty tree, at least she had a good reason to use a tree rat. You are quite spry now, you could climb it and knock him off the top :) XO

It's a fine tree indeed Madi - but there is little doubt it would be so fine had you not helped out!!! The squirrel is surely an insult though... or a major tease! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

  16. A squirrel??!! What is Hallmark thinking of? Did your Mom spend good money for a squirrel? Or was it a giveaway....sheesh!

  17. Your parents are lucky you're there to supervise, Madi! Is your work ever done?!?! How rude ... the humans retire ... and you're still working hard making sure they're not slacking! ;)

  18. That tree is just gorgeous, Madi. Mom got a lighterweight and narrower tree last year too. Much easier to set up, although the SIL is always very helpful with that too.

A squirrel atop the tree - HORRORS!!!! But Mom says she understands, it is hard to find a decent tree topper these days. We have an angel that has been in the family for years, and Mom still loves it.

  21. Don't tell me the Evil Squirrel Cartel has commandeered your Christmas tree!!! What will they think of next? We're planning on getting a smallish tree this year. We didn't have a tree for the last couple years because we always went to little Ryan's house for Christmas. But this year our Oma is coming to visit and we would like her to have a tree!

  23. We got a new tree this year too. Our old one had broken branches (from Ernie climbing it) and half the lights didn't work. Our new one is a little smaller than our old one...only 6 1/2 feet high, but we don't have no cookie squirrel on top. That's a silly tree topper. :)

  24. Good thing your mom loves a nice tree cuz our pawrents don't even care! It's really pathetic! BTW, did we miss the results of your test results?

  25. Last year our lady did nothing cause she was away. She would likely give up the tree but man keeps them up!
Your tree is great minus the squirrel.

  26. We like your tree Madi. Hope you get used to the squirrel at the top. But it should be a kitten. ~ˆ..ˆ~ ☃️🎄
Our tree is real and still naked. It’s beautiful too. Maybe tomorrow it will get decorated. . .

  27. A squirrel!!! Our mom thinks your mom should put her crochet skills to work to make a beautiful angel for the top of your tree. There is no way any of us canine citizens of Blogville would ever allow a squirrel on our trees.

  28. A SQUIRREL! Sacrilege! Your tree does look beautiful though.
My Mommy had a cheap nasty Dollar store star (with it's one light) in the tree last year, but Queen Penelope must have left the light on when it got put away as the battery was dead! Mommy came home with a most beautiful small angel that that fits our tiny tree.
