Caturday Art

Welcome to  Caturday art hosted by Athena
See more Caturday Cat Art HERE.
FYI we have a resident Artist...many of you know him as
DAD of Madi!!

Raise your hand if you remember when wooden purses were IN?
Evidently Mom does (remember she is older than dirt). Are you ready here we go.....

When Mom was 19 (~1968 aka Stone age), she worked part time in a fancy clothing store. The wooden purses were very popular. She and my Dad had just started dating. Often she mentioned to him how much she admired the purses. Well Dad started to secretly investigate the wooden purses because he wanted my Mom to have one. After careful consideration, Dad concluded that he could make one for her. He worked on it for a very long time. Finally the time came to give it to my Mom. As I've mentioned, many times Mom is a squealer and I'm pretty sure she S Q U E A L E D long and loud when she saw this beautiful wooden purse made with love and care just for her. Dad bought the unfinished purses at a hobby/art shop. He hand drew each of the butterflies on the purse, painted them in their authentic colors,
painted the edges of the purse, note the itty bitty tiny orange line in between the yellow and brown. The brown semi-circles were made by tracing 1/2 of a penny
After all the painting was complete he put several coats of lacquer on the purse to perserve the drawings and the paint. Here it is 48 years later and the purse looks nearly perfect.Mom said she was so afraid she would dent it she only used it on Sunday. It has been stored with tender love and care over the years.

If you enlarge the pictures, you might see that each butterfly has tiny jewels on its wings that sparkle. The name of each butterfly is also either above or below the drawing.

Now Dad uses his artistic skills to build
TRAINS
HERE HE IS SAWING A PIECE OF BRASS
HE WILL USE THE SMALL PIECE TO MAKE
A PART
 FOR A TRAIN LIKE THIS....
HE SOLDERS ON PARTS AND PIECES
ON TO PLAIN TRAINS TURNING THEM IN TO
BEAUTIES LIKE THIS

MY DAD IS A GENIUS AT THIS TOO...BUT
HE IS ALSO A PERFECTIONIST...SO IT TAKES
TIME AND PATIENCE

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday with Angel Sammy

This will be a poem to tell you how we came to blog
Today's post is brought to you by the letter

H

Humans...
by Madison D Cat

Are a strange breed!
We love'em in spite of the crazy notions
 in their head.
My contract states I follow their lead
when I sleep, play and  eat.
Hey I say, I am leader not a follower.
To be predictable is not in my DNA.
Humans are strange, their needs are many.
To them I say, let down your furs,
shake the fuzzies our your head.
Come follow me instead.

Sincerely Madi the leader.

Two Tale Tuesday

Subtitle: Just say Water

Last week while reading this post about Colehaus Cats human trying
to break them from the habit of drinking from a faucet, Mom was reminded
of her water saga with my human Sis.

Sis had a very large vocabulary by the time she was 18 mos.   She could say big words like pocketbook and could put  small sentences together.  For instance, once when she was about 20 months old she brushed against a bush  turned to the bush and said 'excuse me bush'.  However. for some reason she would not say ‘water’. She would ask for ‘la’ when she wanted water. For a very long time mom would giver her ‘la’ while saying here is your ‘water’

Sis of  Madi just before she turned 2.  She loved talking on the phone.

By the time she was 2 she was saying  very long sentences but would not say water. One day Mom told her she could have anything she wanted to drink as long as she said it correctly.
Sis tested mom by asking for milk, tea, orange juice, pepsi etc. (sis did not normally get tea or Pepsi).  Mom gave her a taste of all of them. Then came the request for ‘la’. Nope not getting it unless you say water. It was a long day needless to say.  Fast forward 8 hours when Sis heard her dad come in the door. She goes running up to him like she has been on a desert and says Dadddy ‘waaaaaaater’. He looked at mom and said you did it…mom said well it took 8 hours. Mom never figured out where the word ‘la’ originated but was sure glad it disappeared because mom found it quite ridiculous, to have to tell everyone what a child who could rattle off big words and sentences, wanted when she asked for la!

Thankfully I don't have to ask for water I have a lovely fountain.

Mom says I got my hard headiness from sis!!
But I do like an occasional sip from the faucet too

This is how I looked when mom and Dad finally got home after spending
3 hours at Toyota yesterday.  OMCs They barely made it home in time
for my early dinner.  I was sure I would starve.
There appt was at 11 they left there at 2:15.
Crazy for sure it was a check up for Gracie, they tested her batter
which needed charging.  That took an hour.  Then after it charged it would
not hold a charge so they had to install a new battery BUT IT WAS
UNDER WARRANTY SO NO EXTRA CHARGE.
Odd thing was they weren't having any signs of battery trouble.

Monday Mews: Mom Eats Crow

Subtitle: Retraction
If you did not see my post on 1/24/17,  click here FIRST

Today's 2nd photo was taken on 1/23/17.  Mom said I must have had a sick Sixth sense about the post....

Madi I'm eating crow because you are a crazy cat.
We've had this new floor since August 2016.
You have refused to do anything except walk through this room
never sit in it.  In spite of the fact that I have left several mats, towels etc down
for you to sit.
Then the very day I am planning yet another story about your dislike, get it posted with photos
I see you sitting on top of the square of carpet sample.  Some how you squeezed
your girly figure onto the mat with all your Yeow!!! Sardines.

I officially RETRACT my story of 1/24/17 and will no longer
say your hate this room.

Breaking news:  10:00 am
Gracie, the Highlander aka BAR mobile has her
20,000 mile check up today, way on the other side of the county.
  We'll catch up later
Hugs madi and mom
