Wordy Wednesday: Health Update

G'day friends!!
You know we seniors are all about keeping things real and true here....so
I just wanted to tell you last week on  February 23 and 24 were ROUGH days for
this itty bitty senior kitty. Mom thought I wasn't feeling the best on Thursday
but you know we all have rough days. I won't go into all the gory (what I ate came back) details just say I had to go to the Vet Friday 2/23 and Monday 2/26.
For the record, I'm not a hissy kitty at the vet but Friday's visit started off on the wrong paw!!
When I arrived, there was another kitty singing the song her people in 1 soprano, ....so I hissed joined her. Then the Vet Tech got way too purrsonal with my tush...YIKES...so I hissed.
Finally my bud Dr. Szabo came in, good news was that over all Dr. Szabo thought I
looked good. MY weight was finally up to 7 lbs. WooHoo.
My kidney values were very good...thanks to the meds.
Problem is my meds are administered in my food so I HAVE TO EAT!!
He took me to the back to give my Cerenia shot via my SUBQs (Cerenia shots sting that is why they do them in SUBQs) and he gave me an antibiotic shot.  OMCS was mom embarrassed when Dr. Szabo returned with me wrapped in a thick towel like a taco.  NEVER EVER IN in all my years have they ever had to do this.  Evidently I got a wee bit testy back there...I had to show them my concealed weapons!!  As I said, the visit started off on the wrong paw and steadily got worse.  I might not have felt good but my gumption was in tact!!
I slept for the rest of the Friday. Being testy is tiring.
Saturday Dr. Szabo called to see how I was doing.  He is my Bud!!
Mom said still not eating the best.  He said to give the antibiotic time to kick in...
I normally eat an entire can of stinky goodness in one day.  I barely at 1/2 can all day Saturday.
The peeps went to bed worrying; however, I surprised them by meeting them in the foyer at 6 am Sunday.  Mom gave me a small breakfast, I napped a bit, watched them eat then decided to finish my breakfast.  When Mom went out for the news paper she told Dad there was a nice breeze and the birds were singing.
THEN SHE OPENED THE WINDOW AT THE SINK...MY EARS PERKED UP WHEN I HEARD THE SERENADE BUT I COULD NOT FIND IT
(we rarely open windows).
Mom plopped me up by the window.....now I'll let these two collages and video at the end finish my story.

I  you can't see this video click here to see it on YouTube

Early Monday 2/26, Mom called Dr. Szabo due to worsening issues a lady does not discuss.
He suggested mom try to give me some plain or vanilla yogurt or pumpkin to see
if that helped settled my tummy. NOPE I wasn't having either of those.  Showed mom my back
of 200% itty bitty kitty DISRESPECT.  So off to the vet at 10:00 am
Dr. S felt my tummy and said my intestines felt swollen and inflamed.
Same thing I had in June 2017 so he treated it the same way with another Cerenia shot and an anti inflammatory.  Paws, eyes, legs and arms crossed this treatment gives me 8 months of feeling good and I'm back to eating like Miss Piggy again.

As you found out in yesterday's post, I'm just 2 weeks shy of my 16th bday.
We think things have taken a turn for the BETTER  and we three seniors are continuing our
Motto
THANKFULLY
LIVIN' AND LOVIN' ONE DAY AT A TIME

  10. Oh gosh, you have had a rough few days. I think it is totally understandable that you hissed and were a little testy at the vet. You have earned that right as a senior diva.

I'm glad things seem to be looking up! We are thinking about you and sending tons of hugs and prayers that your tummy feels better soon.

  11. Madi I think you - with the help of your fabulous Mom - are handling your little ups and downs of the aging issues thing with grace!! Your doctor is very tuned into you like your Mom is...and they are taking SUCH good care of you and other than the occasional "taco experience" at your vet, you are letting everyone do what's necessary to keep you ticking along in fine shape for a "lady of a certain age". Getting a treat like window open and fresh air is REALLY nice! You just keep eating what you need to in order to stay strong and happy. OK? OK!

    Love, Teddy
