Easy Sunday and a few Plates

Mom told me she had a tale to tell.
I told her I was all EARS.....
I'm still waiting for her to tell the
tale....she is old I think she forget what
she was going to say

1. AAIJ'MEL, Maybe French?
2. BOSOX2, Boston Red Sox #2
3. CIASPY, could it be CIA SPY
4. IDREAM
5. PSTVPTBL, no clue
6. POTATA, Potato but why?
7. SNAPITUP, Snap it up on a Jeep Renegade
8. MADSDAV, no clue
9. NCLIVIN, N. C. Living
10. 6BELLS, maybe the last name is Bell
11. NOJEEP4U
12. FLOREZ, Floors or a last name Florez which is Flower I think
13. PANDYA, Panda
14. PAZ, Paws on an I Care Plate
similar to the one above.  This project comes out of Harnett Co, NC.

PSA
Yesterday the message light was blinking on our landline
Here is the Message
This call is for TOGM (he used my first and last name)
This is Sgt. Sullivan with the Wake County Sheriff's Department
I need to talk to you about a legal matter.
Please call me at 888-888-8888

I knew right off it was a SCAM, but I called the Wake Co. Sheriff's Department to
report it.  Needless to say the Sheriff's Department would never call like that.  This is the first time I've ever rec'd a scam call that knew my name and left a message.
BEWARE all!!

...and I've never known scammers to leave a message. Clearly just a 'lone wolf' and probably local. Hope the sherrif and his posse can track the varmint down... Madi - your ears might be able to do a voice analysis... (okay, I watch WAAAYY too many police procedurals...)

#1 - Aaij is a middle-eastern name and Mel is more generic; a name for sure, but I would say definitely NOT French.
#3 - that's what it says... but are they allowed to advertise themselves?!
#5 - "Positive Pitbull"? What I can tell you is there are two criminal records for involvement in accidents for a vehicle with this registration in NC. The name of the owner is cited in the net search, which I'm sure ought not to be the case!!!
#6 - (sweet) potata (from Spanish); someone, usually a male, who is thought of as cute, adorable, sweet, kind, thoughtful, sexy, beautiful, attractive and uplifting.
#8 - Mads is a male name from Scandinavia, but also a fairly common shortening for Madeline - Maddy...Madi...(!) - Mads. The Dav is likel to be a shortening for surname Davis, Davision or similar.
#10 - could be, six in the family Bell; or the owner has naval connections, with fond memories of chiming the bells on watch. There are endless numbers of pubs in the UK with the name 'Six Bells'.
#13 - Pandya is an Indian surname.
#14 - Paz is Spanish for 'peace' - they care...

Have a restful Sunday you three!!! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. Wow #5!!! I also googled it after seeing your comment. I also followed up on the name and it shows address, phone number and family members. That definitely doesn't seem right.

  5. Scammers are amazing in the effort they put in. Surely it's less work to get a legit job??

  6. they get your name from the same place they get your number, the internet. we get at least 3 to 5 calls a day like this. none of which we answer. only a few leave message, and they are like this one. we had 3 messages last week. they seem to be getting more and more. and no way to stop them.. love those ears that were so beautiful they blew TOGM mind and she forgot to tell you the tale, make that tail. ha ha.. I like the CIA plate, I do love to read books about SPYS...

  8. I once had a caller from the UK (while living in Norway) and she asked for my husband. The strange thing was though: they pronounced my last name correct. When I said I didn't have a husband, they hung up. Strange...

Here in the UK I have had calls from South Sudan and Egypt! I don't know anybody there.

  10. Those calls are no fun. I usually just let them go to voicemail and most never leave messages. You were smart to report it too.

  13. Fun plates, Madi. I get those sort of calls sometimes. Usually someone trying to tell me they will give me a better internet deal, or that I have a virus on my computer which they can get rid of for me. They seem to think we were all born under a gooseberry bush!

  14. OH, that message would have freaked the peeps out here - good idea to report it too!!!

Mom needs to remember to write down those plates she sees. Every now and then she spots a good one.

    Happy Sunday.

  15. We've heard that scams were being made by pretend use of police departments...it's scary out there!

  16. There are all kinds of crazy scams out there! We get a lot about "I'm calling about your credit card". On the slim chance our mom picks up, she asks "which card"? Ha ha ha. They don't know how to answer it.
    We love your ear shot!
    Yours sincerely,

  17. I saw a plate while still in NC today on my way home that said CHLTLVR. Perfect for me because I am a Charlotte lover. I'd live there of I could sell this home and afford one in Charlotte. Neither is going to happen so I just go back to visit Katie's other favorite brovver. I was going to tell you that 6 bells is Naval time and starts at 0300 hrs and goes forth in the multiples. I.E. ------- 03:00, 07:00, 11:00, 15:00, 19:00, 23:00

  18. The mom gets calls from people claiming to be with the IRS. She knows these are scams for sure! Thanks for the PSA.

  19. OUr Mom has gotten so many of those scams calls that she bought a device that blocks them! Makes the house so much quieter!

  20. Oh, I loves those plates! Ma is getting more and more text scam messages than evers! She almost fell for one the other month when her bank cancelled her CC and issued a new one cause it was part of an online breech. Then she got a text message from 'her bank' wanting to verify purchases. She thought it was weird, butts called the number, and a few seconds in she new it was a scam! frickin' scammers!!!!!
    Kisses,

  21. You have very pretty ears. We barely answer the phone anymore because of all the scam calls.

  22. I have always been fascinated by license plates and vanity plates are the best! We don't have a landline since we moved. All we ever received were robo calls and scams. We had an "IRS" agent leave a message once. It was hilarious!

  23. You have pretty ears, Aunt Madi! I think they need a big kiss!
