Cups and Plates

As promised yesterday here are some photos from  our road trip to Cedar Creek Gallery
on Wednesday January 16, 2019.
They are having a Cupful Exhibit (no worries there were many photos taken and will be shared)
Along the way I also snapped 71 photos of cups and other stuff I'll share in the next few days.

We did not buy any.  While I 100% appreciate the time and creativity and love
put in to each piece...we didn't see one cup under $30.00. And the ones I
liked were more.

The collection below was probably my favorite
birch trees and red birds.  Both look very real
I would have loved the entire set but I don't need any more dishes. LOL

Sunday Selfie in the collage below
The lampshade on the top left if is hand painted on silk.  Yep I liked it too.

The gallery has a small museum for vintage pieces that are not for sale.
Tea pot top left  and the vintage lunch boxes bottom right

We arrived shortly after they opened...it was chilly in there (64 degrees) nice fire
was roaring.  The hummingbird pieces below were very colorful

I took more photos outside and some more inside that will be used later.

  1. So many beautiful things! Mom had to laugh at the vintage lunchboxes. She carried lunchboxes similar to that one when she was in elementary school☺

  2. I always fall in love with the most expensive of anything in a shop I am wandering in... I see two things I really love, the fireplace and the mirror on the wall with the fish. I would like to own that mirror. the cups are beautiful and I see a few that appeal to me, but all I see is things to be dusted... that is the point I am at... of couse the mirror would need to be dusted also.. still love it.

  4. The cups are more works of art and I too always seem to like the most expensive thing in the store!

I love your choice of red birds and birch trees! There are some truly artful things here - but as you say - the cost. You'd never use them would you - rather, get them box-framed and hung on the wall! Right, now to business...

#1 - Frenweh is a reference to either; a) wanderlust, b) a Scottish Outdoors Equipment company - called that because of the wanderlust invoved so refer back to A... or c) the band with that that name. Fernweh is German and most closely translates as 'far longing'.
#2 - sorry to correct, but I believe that is actually BE KIND, given the letter positions
#4 - There is Flikr account with this moniker. In UK NMW means 'national minimum wage' - could Pam be on low income?
#6 - German again. Your guess could well be the case. There is a German song with this title, (it means Three Times High - lyrics here), which could just be coincidence.
#9 - maybe a fan of the artist (or the artist himself?); OR they are really into the accessories; OR, it's just their name!
    11) - A "Coalburner" is rather drogatory term, (if not referring to the actual machinery which burns coal)... it is a white girl who is spoiled rotten and rebels against her wealthy or middle class parents by taking a black boyfriend/husband...
    12) - could be a MJ fan; but also, it could be their name, Navi, meaning 'Kind To People'. The origin of the name Navi is Indian. OR good old gaming again. In pop culture, Navi is a fairy character from the video game The Legend of Zelda.
#18 - maybe they are 'decked' after listening to D-Deck?
#19 - it's a Harry Potter reference... worth noting also that Nimbus Grey is a certain paint colour for cars and if they got the car in the year 2000... but I'm going with option one!

    Hooroo the noo. YAM xx

  9. Maybe it should have read ICA-SPY....lol.

Some beautiful cup designs....but I'm a china/porcelain girl. Love thin cups to drink my cappuccinos from.

  10. Going into places like that can be my downfall. I may as well leave my wallet at the cash register...hard to resist. I do...but it's hard.

  16. The cup exhibit is amazing!!! Mom says she would have had a hard time picking just one. That was a very fun trip you took.

We need to get Mom to write down the clever plates she sees as she seems to forget them when she gets home:)

  20. Ma does loves her a purty cup! Which reminds her, she needs to do a purge of her cups ~ way too many chipped and yucky ones. Anyhu, those are so beautifuls! And Ma's brudder used to have that Popeye lunch box! If only we didn't toss it....sigh
    Kisses,

  23. I love all the pretty teapots and accessories too, and would have been keeping my wallet shut at those prices also. I took a picture of a license plate for you. It says POOPAW1

  24. Gorgeous cups! I like the birch with the birds, too. I think I would be afraid to use cups this pretty because I'm clumsy and would probably break them!
