More times than I can count we have passed by the grove of Bamboo trees
IN RALEIGH. They are growing right in the middle of a neighborhood.
They always amaze and delight me.
I had my camera this time.
I did not know we had bamboo plants that are native to North Carolina

This has been parked by our house for a WEEK.
He had a perfectly respectable white pick up....now he has this.
This is the view from our back porch.
It belongs to the guy 3 doors up from us.
There are 3 drivers living in the house they have 5 vehicles.
He had a white pick up he must have traded for this.
Why doesn't he park it in front of his own house?
His choice of parking has been a sore subject for the neighborhood for over a year, he parks
WHERE EVER he wants to park.
I have some thoughts but I'll keep them to myself.
At least it doesn't look so sad now.

Bamboos are the largest of the grasses, with more than 1600 species on the planet; 64 percent of which are native to Southeast Asia. Thirty-three percent grow in Latin America, and the rest in Africa and Oceania. (click here for more). In North America, Arundinaria is our only native bamboo genus with three native species occurring here:
According to the USDA Plant Profiles, all three native Arundinaria speices occur in North Carolina.

omg the car looks like a diy project of our staff LOL... but I'm with you he better should park this (f)artpiece in front of his own house...
ReplyDeleteI love your treatment of the pick-up! Perhaps you can (accidentally of course) drop a small tin of paint on it. Pink or yellow or some such. Not on the windows, he needs to be able to drive away.

Those bamboos are huge! If he has had the car there for a week can you report it as abandoned outside your house?
ReplyDeleteYears ago, we discovered that one of our neighbors had a small bamboo grove growing in their yard. It's been years, so we don't know if it's survived or not. We love the pick-ups new paint job☺

I agree... park the dang rust bucket where he gets to see it since he loved it enough to make it his. I'd be wanting to call someBODY about it. I love bamboo! I also love your pine needle mulch.

Bamboo is a dirty word in our house, our neighbor planted a few in his yard, now it has taken over and is taking over our yard and others and is 3 stories tall, blocking the sun from our pool plus it keeps the pool full of leaves. you don't want to say the word bamboo arond Bob. our behind us neighbor has 7 trucks and cars in their driveway and street... 3 br house with 6 adults...
ReplyDeleteIt totally takes over wherever it is. Someone down the street has it and it spilled over to the entire yard and crowds the street and droops over so cars have to get brushed by it as they pass.
DeleteWe enjoy seeing your nature but can sympathize about that ugly truck. Maybe he got it as a fixer upper and will make it pretty some day. Until then just imagine it with your added decorations when you look in that direction.

ReplyDeleteMomma says there was a blue and white truck that was the bane of her existence at the old house! It was ALWAYS parked right in front of her house. That was one thing she was happy to leave behind!

I didn't know about native bamboo; wonder if it will grow in Michigan?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone in your neighborhood have security cameras? NO? Then, I'd go outside at 2 am and let air out of those tires.
Of course, maybe if someone--and we won't know who--sneaks out and spray paints rude things on it, he might move it. LOL!
ReplyDeleteAt least they don't sit in it for 6-8 hours a day and into the evening like the old lady who is the mom of the woman next door. She parks directly across from my house. When she comes home from work, she stays in the car to eat, read, who knows what, and she is there except to use the bathroom in her daughter's house, even into the night. Cold, hot, rain or snow. She can see right into my kitchen and at night the living room too I have to keep the blinds up some so Katie won't rip at them and destroy them. It's always raining so the lights are on in the day. I can't raise the blinds till she leaves or I get be seen at the kitchen window in my jammies, making breakfast etc etc. Hey I just wrote a blog! Sorry. :-)
ReplyDeleteOn our block, there is a white pick-up truck that never seems to get the muffler fixed. It roars around the corner in the morning around 7 and then roars back home at 4! Everyone knows that guy's work hours! Too bad we can't sneak over there and paint flowers and funny faces on that annoying white truck!
ReplyDeleteC; I would have lost that bet if someone asked about bamboo growing here in the states; that is neat though. we have everything on my street from boats, trailers, RV'z, cabs of semi's; makes it D difficult to back out of one's own drive to see if any cars are driving down the road before completely backing up ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ReplyDeleteWe had the same problem in our last neighborhood with our neighbors parking their cars up and down the street :-(
Maybe it is time to park your own vehicle in that spot:) We had neighbors until just a couple of years ago with four teenage drivers. One or two of their cars was always in front of our house since they didn't like playing musical cars in the driveway. It was bad enough that they parked in front of OUR house but they always managed to have at least one tire on the lawn!!! GRrrr!!!

Looks like an artiste should do the poor guy a favor and spruce up his ride a bit. I had no idea bamboo was native to there either! Interesting!
ReplyDeleteICK on the ugly truck - everything else in your post is gorgeous but that truck is a REAL eye sore! Nice to be able to spruce it up with stickers but how about sneaking out there one night with a spray can and give it a paint job. Maybe "invisible paint" ????????

ReplyDeleteWe had a lot of bamboo in NW. Louisiana. My husband and brother used to make high jumps and poles out of the bamboo they cut down. LOL! Neighbors can certainly make your life miserable. We are fortunate to have nice neighbors here in Texas and our HOA is very strict. Hopefully, it will break down and be hauled off sooner rather than later. I like your "paint job"
ReplyDeleteWe have bamboo growing here in SE TN too. About the truck, just call the police and tell them it has been parked there for __days or weeks, and you think it could be stolen. :) It'll be interesting to see what happens.
