Feline and Nature Friday with Kat and Bday wish

Hosted by Comedy Plus

Email from Kat:  May 12, 2019

Dearest Aunty HiC
Mom and I laughed out loud when Dad handed over today’s mail. We told him the story of Uncle B’s MIA card, and he laughed too!  Mom loves your custom made cards, and this one is so cute!
It’s Mom’s first birthday card this year, and no doubt the best, as MY picture is on it! 😹
We love you!

Dearest Nephew and K9s

MOL/BOL/LOL
Indeed Uncle laughed at me on May 7th when I mailed it.  We dropped it in a DIFFERENT box.  Uncle asked when Is Aunty's Bday.  Mom said May 17...
He laughed 10 days to Georgia are you sure that is long enough?  It took 13 days to get my card and it was mailed in Raleigh.
Thank goodness you have it.
Lovingly your Aunty HiC...who really dislikes being late with greeting cards!!

Back story to this:
My husband's birthday was April 27, 2019.
On April 24th, I mailed his card at a drop box 2 blocks from home.
Expecting it to arrive before his birthday.
Friday April 26 he rec'd a card from our friends 2 hours west of us.  It was mailed on
April 24th too.  WHAT the Heck is going on I said.
On April 27 he rec'd a card from our daughter who lives 3 hours east of us.
It was mailed on April 25th.  Honestly this is the first time in all our
50 years together he has not rec'd a card before or on his bday from ME.
I went to the drop box got the box locator #, called the USPS to find out what branch picked up the mail from that box.  Then I called them.  Because the card was not mailed with a tracking # they could DO NOTHING.

On the afternoon of May 7th my husband went to the mail box and
glory be there was his Birthday card 13 days after his birthday.
It was postmarked April 24th, the day I dropped it in the box.
Oh if that envelop could only talk, I'm sure it would have an amazing
Road Trip story to tell!!

I MUST SAY AT THIS POINT WE ARE REALLY AND TRULY MISSING
**NOT EARL OUR MAIL MAN OF 26 YEARS, WHO RETIRED AUGUST 2018.
If you don't know the story about Not Earl...**see below

As told by Angel Madi
**Our mail man story:  Not Earl has been our mailman for nearly 26 years. Until about 10 years ago, my peeps thought our his name was Earl. When Not Earl was gone for some time, Dad finally asked the substitute mailman if Earl was sick?  He said, do you mean Tony?  Dad said, Oh, His name is "Not Earl"?
The substitute said no it is Not Earl, it is Tony.
From that day forward the peeps still call him (not to his face) "Not Earl"!
My peeps don't think he looks like a Tony.
Every time mom tells this story I ask her what a Tony looks like.
I never get an answer.

  4. My mom says the USPS is nothing like what it used to be. We mailed an agility entry in July, and it never arrived with the trial secretary, and never came back to us. No wonder no one sends mail anymore.

  6. We have lived with the mail like this since our best of all mail men moved to another district in 2004.. I am thinking your card was delivered to the wrong address and that person took it in and threw it on the table and it laid there until they finally found it and put it back in the box.... I love the card you sent to Kat's mom. I love thephoto of cat with the card. so beautiful... I have to say my mother who was the CARD Queen in our family, never once mailed one to her own house. we all got one for every occasion but not by mail.... I am the NON card queen which makes it hard for me to understand. BUTT it is really funny. Bob and I gave each other a birthday card, the year we were married 1985 and that was the last card either of us got or gave.

  11. We never know with our Mail Service either....a card can reach my sister in NJ in two days...and take two weeks to get to a friend across town! Go figure!

I just love Kat. I really do.

Love the mailman story. Tony and not Earl.

I've mailed things that took weeks to arrive. I always wondered what happened too.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Big hug. ♥

  13. Our first thought at your tale of woe about your card was that would never happen on "Not Earl's" watch. Happy birthday to Kit too.

  15. Our mailman drives right on by if there is s vehicle parked anywhere NEAR the box. I've complained to no avail.

    Happy birthday.

  16. Several years ago, the post office 'improved' their service. Mail is now sent to a town 4 hours away to be sorted and then sent back for delivery. We often have letters that take ages. (I've learned to be sceptical of the words 'new and improved'.)

  17. I am glad the card finally arrived. My hubby's sister lives an hour away and she sent a calendar in January that went to LA and San Fransisco before coming back to Massachusetts.

  18. Those are some funny stories! We don't know what our mail carrier's name is. But we do know he wears shorts in even the coldest winter weather. He must be part polar bear!

  20. We've had such things happen to us before. Those are some hilarious mail stories, too. Our usual mail carrier, who is none too sociable, always shows up in a beat up older car wearing baggy wrinkled shorts and a dirty shirt. We always thought they were supposed to wear the blue uniforms. Oh well, like everything else these days, anything goes.

  21. The mail is absolutely WEIRD nowadays. My Mom says you used to be able to COUNT on the mailman and the way mail moved around the country and the world but no longer. Glad he FINALLY got the card though!

    Hugs, Teddy and Mom too

  22. Dear Leonard, stay away from here. If you fall, Lucy will eat you. Xena
Maybe, with Not Earl Not Around, you'll have to do like our Mom and Dad do, and lay the card on his pillow or his place mat at the table. Lucy.
Yeah, then you can buy him a steak dinner with the money you saved on postage. Xena
Xena, you live in a fantasy world. Lucy
Happy Birthday to Rama. Xena, Lucy and Amy

  24. Happy Birthday to Ms. Kit from all of us!!! We have similar mail issues here, service just isn't what it used to be.

Misty caught a lizard last week, and Dad made her "leave it" - sheesh, he spoiled all the fun.

Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
