Ta Da Tuesday: My 1st Quilt

I am happy to report my quilt has been completed.

Full disclosure...there are some errors, my SIL says there are no errors... just opportunities.
I expect a professional eye can spot them.   Rather than take off the  border and start again, I was able to recover. My theory is...if you can't spot them...mum is the word.  LOL
As you noticed with my blouse, I love buttons so I added one to each corners.

Things I learned:
1.  You CAN teach an old codger new tricks
2. Don't be afraid to try something new.
3. Visualize yourself succeeding:  I felt like I could do it so I tried.

Angel Madi loved sitting on the back of the couch

I think she might have enjoyed sitting on the quilt so this is going to be
it's permanent home.

One thing for sure it is NOT quilt weather in Dixie....we have highs in the 90's most of the week.

I rec'd the following email, picture and video from my Nephew Kat.

Dearest Aunty HiC

It is HOT here on The Hill, and Mom and I don’t like it one bit! 🙀
I do appreciate the AC, and extra fans, but miss spending time on the porch. It looks like a long hot summer ahead. Scoot over Buddy, and share that fan. 😻
❤️ Kat Your Feline Nephew

Dearest Smart Nephew...
What a wonderful way to cool your undercarriage!!
And Buddy is making sure his nosy doesn't get too toasty.  We have fans blowing here too. Thank goodness we bought new ceiling fans last summer with 5 blades. I will never ever NO never get used to the 3 H's in Dixie.  Thank goodness you and Pup found your furever home before summer arrived.
Lovingly your Aunty

  1. Your quilt looks wonderful! Madi would have loved it! Kat and Buddy seem to really enjoy the fan. We had one day--- one day!--- of hot humid weather. Now it's back to cold wind and clouds. Hopefully the rain will stop so we can do some garden work.

  2. Your quilt is perfect and don't let anyone say different! Awesome effort.
As ever, a move to Scotland is an option for those don't like hot summers!
    Cheers, Gail.
PS Back Aberdeen where it's rain and a high of 53º today. Picking up Bertie this afternoon.

Looks like Kat and Buddy are keeping cool.
We reached 70F yesterday which is a high temperature for us, and set to do the same today. Humidity is usually very high here too, but thankfully not today.

  5. Oh I am SURE Madi would love lying on that pretty red quilt you made. It really is nice and I LOVE the addition of the corner buttons! Angel Sammy enjoyed quilts too very much - luckily for ME, my sister Carol has gifted me with many of her quilts through the years....Teddy is learning the joy of quilts too!

    Hugs, Pam (and Teddy too)

  12. Your quilt looks great and Miss Madi surely would have love laying on it. Our mom says there is a saying among quilters that if you can't see a flaw in a quilt while riding by on horseback then you don't need to worry about it. Quilters can always see their own mistakes but unless you are a professional judge most people would never see it. Well done and we can't wait to see your next one.

  19. The Amish usually made a flaw in their quilts...to show humility. I'm with them only I have a few spots of perfection. Your quilt looks beautiful. Well done.

okays, I won't tells you that it was a (rainy) cool 65 today.... Oh, it has been so very nice ~ even though I don't likes the rain, it's been a cool rain, so Ma and I have been enjoying the cool before the heat comes! I am sorry it is hot AND humid...that is the worse! Ma wouldn't make it a day! Just talking abouts it makes Ma open the window to let the cold aire in....
    Stay cool my friends!
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  26. What a lovely quilt. You should be proud of your accomplishment. And I'm sure Angel Madi would have loved to lay on it on the back of the couch.

  27. You did a good job on your 1st quilt. I think Angel Madi would've liked where you put it. 90 degrees. Sounds wonderful. Hate the humidity but love the warmth. Here in my lovely very little town in Pennsylvania we're having fickle weather. We get up into the 80's then it goes back to cold, rain and cloudy. You're right about visualizing yourself doing something and being very successful. It does work.

  28. Way to go! Does it make you want to tackle another? :) Congrats on your first quilt - it looks wonderful!
And there are no errors - just creative personalizations.
