Just saw this on our deck - haven’t seen a praying mantis in years! Amazing insect - so slim I thought it might not be one but then when I got to the front of it I saw it twitch (whisker like things). Anywho thought you might could use it at some point 😂💕

The praying mantis is named for its prominent front legs, which are bent and held together at an angle that suggests the position of prayer. Hunting Adaptations. By any name, these fascinating insects are formidable predators. They have triangular heads poised on a long "neck," or elongated thorax.
Most mantis species are colored green or brown so they can blend in with leaves and foliage which enables them to patiently stalk insects like flies and grasshoppers. ... Striking twice as fast as a blink of an eye, praying mantises will slowly devour the unfortunate prey slowly with its ultra sharp mandibles.

oh we had to look twice... it looks really nearly like grass... my granny once did this nintento dr. kawashima brain training and one of the missions was to draw a praying mantiss...and the granny drew a nun... but well that dr. kawashime ist for kids and not for adults, so how could she know that? she is no longer a child LOL

We have been getting some spectacular sunrises on my way to work.
Pray we don't drown with the Storm Barry suppose to be dumping a lot of rain on Mississippi.

Kat's sweet Fuzz Face is even expressive when he is snoozing! Praying Mantis are so cool! I haven't seen any here but we had them on the Tiny Ten. One always hung out on the table at wine time in the summer... True! Lovely sunset!

Animals always know how to keep our spirits up when we are sad. Way to go, Kat. We have praying mantis and they are really cool.
ReplyDeleteWe see praying mantis frequently but this year so far nothing. I remember one year we saw a million TINY baby mantis' on our azaleas out front with (I assume) Mom among the pile. First time I'd EVER seen that!
