ReplyDeleteGracious! As a lover of architecture, I find this one a tad grotesque. Doesn't seem to quite know where it belongs... and for a Methodist building, it seems far too ornate - more Catholic in design. Was it not open for you to visit inside? Such a shame not to give those windows a chance at full glory! YAM xx
The church architecture is indeed unique. And very different from the typical Methodist chapels we see in the UK, which are notably plain. (My maternal grandfather was a Methodist, although strangely that did not deter him from sending my mother to an Anglo-Catholic convent boarding school).

I would never have guessed this is a church. also that is the oddest name ever for a church. I looked up the word and it means 100 years old. still odd name. it is a magnificent building. I wonder if all the different roof lines are because they kept adding to the orginal...the two pics of the windows at the front doors are AWESOME! great job on the photos

ReplyDeleteThat building is very unusual for a church, particularly for a Methodist church. In the UK Methodist churches are much more basic. I agree that it looks much more like a castle than a place of worship.

ReplyDeleteIf you hadn't said it was a church, I wouldn't ever have guessed that! It is quite pretty, although very strange at the same time. The building doesn't seem to fit its purpose for some reason.
