Final Fiction Friday: Year of the Feline...

Was July 1984.
Is the year my fascination with felines began.
We took a road trip to Syracuse to visit my brother-in-law and his
two cats Ursula, house Panther, and Gudrun, terrific Tabby.
I was raised with dogs...so I really didn't know what to expect
with cats. Ursula and Gudrun were curious about their company.  We three were smitten from their first MEOW.  They were not the least bit shy around their company. The first night my husband and I were  fast asleep on the sofa bed.  All of a sudden I was awakened by what I thought was my husband touching my head as he rolled over. I scooted over a bit but it happened again.   I looked up to see huge kitty eyes staring down at me.
Lo and behold Ursula was on the back of the couch playing swat with my hair.  During our
visit they were absolutely charming, fun, full of spunk and gumption.  All
feline traits I came to love and admire.

Fast forward a few years we made a trip out the the Wake Co. SPCA on a Saturday before
Labor Day.  My fascination turned into a Labor of Love for all things feline.
We adopted our first cat Milky-Way aka MW.

  12. As dogs plagued by cats we can see why this story was written as 'fiction'. But, SHE likes cats....there's no accounting for taste....

  17. My father was raised on a farm - and when we went back to visit my Grandparents, my brother and I would thoroughly traumatize the poor farm cats because we just KNEW they would come to like us. A couple times, my Grandmother had a litter or two of kittens in the cellar. We begged like we'd never begged before to bring one home. You have one purring ball of fluff and there's no going back.
