Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #30

Today we join Two  SPOILED CATS
Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.

Here is today's inspiration

Watermelon

Small but mighty nothing she can't handle
She tackles it head down.
What else is a wee girl to do?
When she has no teeth,
grab hold with her tiny hands
lean forward doing what she does best
face plant into the cool, juicy melon
suck in all the sweetness she can.

Personal note here:
My Annie Ma used to serve it a lot to the grandchildren.
It made for hours of entertainment.  Lots of news paper spread on the picnic table. Several huge melons cut on the picnic table, it was a free for all.
We wore our bathing suits...they just hosed us off when we were finished.  I tired it once or twice but really didn't like it, I did enjoy the hose down and
seed spitting though.

  1. Gail learned about the American passion for water melon when she worked in Oklahoma, and thinks you have to be in a hot climate to fully appreciate this fruit. It somehow doesn't work so well in Scotland!

  8. Wiki watermelon and the refrigerator all the time while I was in sadly it's going out now the last two I bought weren't very good so we're done with watermelon for this year. We will miss it. That's a precious picture of that baby and a beautiful picture of the watermelon. Mama used to cut them in pieces 1/2 the size that piece of babies eating it would be cut in half and those were set out and we did the same thing you did! The thing is every time we came to Florida we go back home because on the side of the road they were five for a dollar. So we would by 5 and take him home from Florida

  9. What a cute poem for that cute picture. Our mom says she remembers having seed spitting contests with her siblings back in the day. We enjoy a bit of wally melon too.

  10. What a super poem!!!! I remember liking watermelon as a kid but I'm not that fond of it now. I do remember Mom would sprinkle salt on it and I liked it even better!

  11. Love the poem. It's perfect.

I never did that kind of watermelon eating as a child, but spitting out the seeds was grand fun.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, honey. Big hug. ♥

  14. Such a sweet photo - bet that little one has had many laughs looking back at it.

Mom never liked watermelon when she was a kid, but now she loves it as long as it is what she calls a "good" one:)

  15. Wonderful poem C! I still like watermelon, but it is rare to find it as crisp and sweet as I had when I was a young girl in New Jersey!

  17. We love, love, love watermellon. Mom cuts it up and tosses it to us in the kitchen. Afterward, she mops the floor. Strangely, we haven't seen any this summer. XOX Lucy and Xena
