Dearest Auntie HiC
It’s hard to believe, today, April 30th is my Gotcha Day! 😻
This is the first picture Mom took of me, and she posted it on Facebook, hoping to find my owners.
I think I’m a lucky kitty to have found my way to Mom, but she says she’s the lucky one. Life is good❣️❣️❣️
(The voice on video is from TikTok, not Mom. 😉)
And now I have a K9 brudder
Now I have two furever homes:
one stick and mortar one on wheels that we all travel in!!
Hugs from Rocky, your ginger nephew aka the 2nd luckiest kitty in the family...Kat is first MOL.
Dearest Rocky,
I cannot believe it has almost been a year...but then when I type that it seems like you have been in your furever home....furever!!
Lovingly your Auntie HiC

On April 13, I received an email and photos from my dear friend Annette. I knew the very moment I saw the photos I would use them on Nature Friday. Followed by Final (non) Fiction Friday
Hey! During one of our visits with you, while living in Durham, we saw your beautiful ajuga growing next to your sidewalk. We have been growing it ever since we moved to our home in Richmond. It is doing well!!
Look at our funny bluebird box!
Our precious little bluebirds have hatched, and mama and daddy are busy getting worms for them! I am thrilled! No hummingbirds yet! Love Annette
My email reply: Ohhhhh your ajuga is gorgeous and standing tall and proudly showing off its colors! Ajuga is such an adaptable and reliable plant.
That is an adorable bluebird house. Mrs. BB had to have been very impressed with the real estate Mr. BB found for her.
We see the male ruby throated usually early morn an just before dark. Next time I see him I’ll be sure to tell him to send his buddies your way
Love Cecilia

The Story of US.
Annette and I have been friends for 60 years. We met in 9th grade. We have shared many special Moments over the years. Annette and I have million things in common, especially our love of bluebirds and hummingbirds.
Each year in mid March we began
our annual Hummingbird watch. As soon as either of us see one we send each other an email that reads, "it is time to do our Happy Hummingbird Dance."💃 Last week April 9th, 2021 I had my first hummingbird sighting.
This beautiful humming bird bench is located at Louis Ginter Botanical Gardens we visited with Annette and her husband in 2014.
It isn't often, at our age, to have a friend who knew each other's parents.
I have two such friends. Annette is one of them.
Now for a short story from our 16th year
Annette is one month other than I am; however, I got my driver's license first.
After several months of extra practice of driving with my Daddy, our parents agreed that Annette and I could take our first solo outing together. She made us supper at her house (delicious meatloaf, veggies and biscuits) then we were going to a movie.
We had just pulled off her street onto a main street.
All of a sudden, around the corner came a fire truck with the sirens screaming and the lights blinking. She asked: what do we do, I said, we have to pull over. This scenario was not one my Daddy and I had practiced. However, I successfully moved to the curb without scraping the tires or jumping the curb and neither one of us fainted from fright. It scared about 10 years off our lives.
On Monday, April 26th, Annette called to tell me she and Steve were coming to N.C. to see her sister. She asked if it would be convenient for they to come by to see US. I said Absolutely!!!! At the time I wrote the above short story for FFF I had no idea I'd be seeing my precious friend this week.
Long time friendships are the best. The hummingbird link is so precious, And I totally understand the point about knowing each others' parents. It's wonderful that you got to meet up with Annette this week.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Gail.

Oh my! Lots of celebrating for you this week....Rocky was one very lucky boy indeed to find his forever and to have such great adventures "on the road" now! I love the ajuga - I never see that in nurseries around here - what a beautiful plant and color. Then I must say that I found your story about your friend Annette and you knowing each other for so many years just plain wonderful. I have CURRENT friends that I feel like I've known forever but none that go back to childhood with me. Lucky you to have each other and to visit and stay in touch for so many years. LIFE IS GOOD!!
