Dearest Auntie HiC
It is I, Pup, your ace reporter, reporting from New Mexico. Where we are currently set up at:
Fun facts to know and tell:Did you know Ponderosa pines smell like butterscotch and vanilla? The peeps learned this the first time they visited Grand Canyon. There are several smaller Ponderosas in our new campground in NM.
There’s a beautiful Ponderosa is located on our campsite, and Mom headed straight for it
I told her I may or may not have “watered” that tree earlier, but it didn’t dissuade her.
You’ve heard of tree huggers; Mom is a tree sniffer!!!
Volume up!
After Mom finished sniffing the tree we did a little birdwatching. We saw lots of Scrub Jays, they are beautiful but too fast for a photo. Below borrowed from Wikipedia.
Mom says a great birdwatching companion. I never say a word. 😝
Dearest Pup,
Ohhhhh my word butterscotch, That is my kinda of tree. Now you have me LOLing...you watered the giant tree. I bet it grew a few inches overnight. The bird is gorgeous it matches the beautiful sky! I want a top that color.
Love to you and the entire pack your auntie HiC

ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely tree and it must smell wonderful. The first video link wouldn't load for me.
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish we had those ponderosa pines in Scotland.
ReplyDeleteGail says that I am NOT the ideal bird-watching companion as after I've sat there for a minute or two I always want to wander off and investigate some interesting smell.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Pup, for taking is on your hike with mum and sharing the Ponderosa birdy with us; I swear I can smell butterscotch right now... hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
My mom would have her nose against the tree's bark too and sniffing away!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous park... I love and and have sniffed Ponderosa Pines! When we lived in El Paso we visited friends in Albuquerque and we found the sniff worthy Pines on our travels. New Mexico is one of my favorite places. I am glad you like to bird watch with your Mom, Pup.

ReplyDeleteWoW! We have some huge pine trees around here. Poderosas make them look small. Pup, we are impressed you are such a great bird watcher! Cinnamon gets excited and barks at them. Thanks so much for visiting us!
DeleteWe have ponderosa pines here. When the sun warms them up, they smell SO good. But, I would've said that they smell like vanilla. No matter - butterscotch is great too!
ReplyDeleteOh, Ma has smelled one of those! They smell FABulous! When you gets a whole bunch in the summer heat, the forest smells DIVINE! Pup, I would have peed on it too....🤣

Another Ace Reporter pup! Yay! I was afraid I was alone in this profession as a dog. You do a wonderful job, Pup. You will have to get an official Ace Reporter picture made. Good job on reporting on the tree, too. XOX and *wags* Lucy
