Nature Friday: Mini vacation Trek Part I and Feline Friday

Hidey one and all!! I missed you.  We arrived home safely at 2 pm yesterday from our trip to visit our friends in Yadkin County, NC.   After we were unpacked,  I made a trip to the grocery store.  I have  ~200  gorgeous photos to sort thru from the beautiful NC Mountains.   The weather was perfect for trekking and taking photos.  Tuesday June 15 we took our first trek on the Yadkin Valley River Walk.
Today's post will be from that Trek

Nature Friday host LLB Gang  and Feline Friday  host Comedy Plus

As we arrived we saw this cute little hut welcoming us

The 'stick library' bottom left photo was so funny!!

The Yadkin River Greenway is a work in progress, currently in three segments that have yet to be joined. Construction will take place during summer 2011.  It is 5.2 miles

The Yadkin River is one of the longest rivers in North Carolina, flowing 215 miles. It rises in the northwestern portion of the state near the Blue Ridge Parkway's Thunder Hill Overlook. Several parts of the river are impounded by dams for water, power, and flood control

I love covered bridges! Imagine my delight when I saw this up ahead on the river walk

Signs says Horse Riders Dismount to cross the bridge.
We didn't see any horses

We thoroughly enjoyed the shaded trail

It meander on giving us much needed exercise after 2 hours of riding

We turned around at this field.  It was a gorgeous day!!

Here is a short video of my Grandcats Mia da Tortie and Frisco da Gingerman

  3. The Yadkin River Greenway looks lovely. And it's always great to hear about new walking trails being constructed. Bertie wants to know if dogs are allowed on the trail and Gail is of course wondering about bicycle?

  19. With the heat we have here, walking along that shaded trail must have been so nice. We laughed out loud at the stick library. We would probably empty it every day and we aren't so sure we would return the sticks:)
