Sparta is such a quaint mountain town. We strolled around with the mountains in the back ground. Kinda surprised to find only a few of cafes/restaurants only open Wednesday thru Saturday. Of course summer tourist season is over.
They are all probably resting up for Fall Foliage seasons when the streets with be flooded with cars full of leaf peepers.
Then winter skiing. The A on the water tower is for Appalachian.
Riding up the mountain from our friend's home we noticed many of the Overlooks didn't have the views they normally have. Our friends told us the Park Service was very short staff not enough workers to keep the trees trimmed. It was still a beautiful view and a gorgeous day.

ReplyDeleteA common problem with viewpoints globally... that darned nature insists on growing and crowding it out!!! I do like a quiet town... YAM xx
Here in the UK many cafés and other services have limited their opening hours due to staff shortages, and this is often attributed to Brexit reducing the available pool of labour. No such explanation in NC!
ReplyDeleteGail would like to visit 'Books 'n Friends.
It looks a nice peaceful town.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute town and that book store looks very inviting!
ReplyDeleteNOTHING, absolutely Nothing is the same as it was before 2020 and will take decades to recover. Not in my lifetime for sure. Sparta looks like a nice small town, maybe Hallmark could make a movie there.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a nice place to visit, and you had a beautiful blue-sky day for it, too.

I think it looks like a nice little town to live, Home prices are good and it is pretty. I just don't want to be another community that is totally affected by a tourist season. Just try and find toilet paper!
ReplyDeleteI would love to shop at that bookstore..
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting town! I LOVE small towns! Each has such a distinctive personality!
